this has nothing to do with being luddites, no one is saying this about xCloud -- my personal vendetta regarding this technology non-withstanding -- but Stadia just had a horrible business model and Google is a horrible product owner.

 

Cloud gaming is like VR gaming, you will really need to be all the fuck about it to truly enjoy it. Casual gamers won’t go the distance necessary to make either thing worth it really.

 

quite the opposite imo, cloud gaming is supposed to be the super casual don't even need a box or set up experience.

 

You need rock solid internet for it to be optimal, most casual people don’t know what the fuck their internet speed is.

 

‘Supposed to’ means talking about it in theory, a lot of things sound great in theory.

idk I think cloud gaming is perfectly fine for casual use, I played some Halo Infinite on it, and while I hated it with every bone in my body, I can see why it'd be good enough for some. Most people aren't discerning or care of even think about shit like input lag.

I don’t see american internet service providers ever being competent enough to deliver the necessary quality of internet nationally to ever deem cloud gaming the primary way of playing.

 

it was kind of cool playing Octopath from my bed on a laptop but turn-based games are all I can see doing right now via cloud

 

literally played it over WiFi, which is the worst thing you can do in this regard.

I played like 80 hours of Persona 5 over PS4 remote play to my laptop in 2018 and it ruled

Man I went almost a whole year of my PS1 life without a memory card.

 

We have quite decent internet and I tried playing Hades through xcloud just to give it shot and I don’t know if I even lasted five minutes before turning it off

 

I think Cloud gaming is better and more advanced than VR. But that is also coming from someone who lives in a major metropolitan area with good internet. I think it’s more along the lines of 5-10 before it’s perfected.
