I am curious what a Feldman-produced song with Tom would sound like, but not enough to actually want it to happen. I would love a new era with a fresh start. When do we think we will get a new song?

I’m such an old blink fan that I remember when Travis only had a boom box tattoo on his stomach and I believe it was “hope” tattooed on his lower back. He also had hair at times too.

 

Just that they are planning a big tour with another very large band, supposedly targeting spring. I wasn't given any detail outside that.

Haven't heard anything about a new album

 

Those rumors stemmed from Mark, Tom & Travis all posting pics being in a studio around the same time... ignoring the fact that Travis is in the studio almost every day, Tom was recording guitars for AVA's live album, and Mark having a studio at his home... oh and they are all life-long musicians so the odds of them playing in different studios during the same week are pretty damn good no-matter the week.

That being said, I was told they were in a rehearsal studio together + Matt in April but not for a new album.. probably testing the waters as a 4-piece.

Liner Notes (September 24th, 2022)

• I can’t even count how many people I’ve heard from with one variation or another of what I wrote about in August. The last I heard from some little birdies was that Tom was at a festival talking about new music backstage and openly lobbying Turnstile to tour with them.

oh, I read it. Currently riding the hype train.

 

Tom floating Turnstile and being the primary push on that makes a lot of sense to me. He literally said they are the new shape of punk to come. It is nice to know that he seems to care about the next era of Blink. Leads me to believe he wants to take his rediscovered connection to write with passion from Lifeforms and keep building with Blink.

The more I think about it, Tom and Matt creating together could be really cool. I always thought the Matt formula in Blink with Feldman essentially being a fourth member in the studio was not the best use of his musical output. I know Blink says NINE is like Untitled, and they were saying it in the context of trying new ideas, but the mood and feel of Untitled and NINE are not similar to me. An actual album that has the spirit of Untitled with Matt and Tom creating collaboratively would be nuts. If they were touring on Untitled and had the creative juices flowing I would be psyched to hear the result. The wild speculations going around in this thread have made my patience vanish. Need new info ASAP. Highly unlikely, but a one-off single drop to tide us over would be the best. Before Tom left he was all about getting music out fast. The result was DED which isn't perfect but I love so much.

 

This thread roughly once a month until an announcement is made.

 

Im excited and hopeful. But will reserve any additional excitement until Tom starts announcing announcements for teasers for further announcements.

 

Mid October we should have more info. That's when a lot of those larger festivals are announcing lineups. More along the lines of an announcement like "blink-182 is playing" but it's something other than the rumors and might provide more info that can tide us over.

 

This is my main problem with Tom ever being back. Unless he’s magically able to clear his schedule and stay focused, 3 years will be a generous estimate of when blink would get something out. Haha.

 

I know it's fun to clown on Feldmann for having a fairly formulaic songwriting style and sterile sound design, but he does have a lot more versatility than we give him credit for.

Like, neither of these songs fit the generic pop-punk mold we associate with Feldmann, but they both sound great, and he produced both. I think giving him a big personality like Tom to push against would give us incredible results.
