Damon Albarn, that famous singer of Bush. Loved him on "Glycerine".

Also, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I love Bush's albums, old and new. I also really love Institute, and I at least enjoy many of the songs on Rossdale's solo album.

Razorblade Suitcase is weirdly blah in the middle of a damn good career streak.

Genuinely don't think I've ever heard any Bush songs other than Glycerine and Comedown

Do people generally not like Bush? I've never heard a full album or anything but I've always liked their singles

Machinehead is a cool song too

Some of y’all listen to too much music.

  10. I can’t stand Glycerine and the other main Bush singles so I am very disinterested in their music haha

I’m sure I’ve probably heard them in the background of a department store or something, but none of these sound familiar. Kind of glad tbh, these songs are buttcheeks.

i’m not willing to die on gavin rossdale’s hill but to keep it brief a) most of the grunge-inspired recent bands that people like on this site are closer to bush than to nirvana and b) swallowed is genuinely good

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

I'll throw Sixteen Stone on once in a while still. Not as big on the singles as I used to be but the deep cuts are all great on that one. Razorblade Suitcase was a big fart in the wind to me when I was a kid but I definitely grew to appreciate that one and the other follow up records. The modern stuff is pretty bad and they probably should've stayed broken up after Golden State.

Nah, it's great. Man On The Run and their last album, The Kingdom, are every bit as good as anything they ever did, and anyone who thinks otherwise might be deluding themselves just a little bit.

Musically it’s not really like Nirvana at all. It’s pretty stock pop chords

The mix tho….hoooo ya, good mix

most nirvana guitar parts are "stock pop chords" with a boss ds-1 though.

They aren’t from another planet, but I think they’re relatively uncommon.

i know you play, dunno if you do much theory but…

Smells Like Teen Spirit is pretty normal, nominally Aeolian, but that F# in the turnaround is kinda left field

    In Bloom gets weird:

    I bVI V bII VII

The B A turnaround back to the I is I guess a jazz move. I cannot think of a single other pop song with that chord change. Likewise the bVI is a familiar 10 cent turnaround in many a pop punk hit, but it’s not terribly common in the main changes, at least in pop rock. He does it a ton, also on Breed, Polly, Lithium, Lounge Act, Stay Away, Territorial Pissings et al

and on “knows not what it means” you get II to V. that major second chord (C major here) is littered across Kurt’s songs; Come As You Are, Drain You, Lounge Act…

Lounge Act, I dunno if Im thinking of it right, but rn I see it as being in G, meaning the chorus changes would be

    VI II V I

Which to my mind is more Cole Porter than anything 90’s (or 80’s). I gotta think about this one though, I dunno I’m seeing it right. But even if it’s in B major, it’s an even crazier chord series; I bVI bII.

i can’t think of a single song with that chord change.

    Lithium tho…lithium lithium lithium

I III vi IV bVI VII V VII

    like what?? And its gorgeous

EDIT: to clarify, upper case numeral means major, lower case means minor
