Agreed, but it’s a fan favorite and one of the more recognizable names. Hocus Pocus also doesn’t fit but is going to crush

i think it's a real good list overall. could probably throw some more obscure 80's slashers in there like the burning but overall it's a good entry point to horror

If the feedback/interaction is good enough I'd like to do a deep cut list later in the year. Most of my followers come from me randomly following local quizzo accounts lol, so I have no idea if they care about horror.

I’m loving that this year we are getting a lot more horror stuff especially so close to Halloween after Covid stifled things for a few years to say the least. Looking forward checking out to Smile, Pearl, Barbarian, Halloween Ends, Midnight Club, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Cabinet of Curiosities, etc. I’m waiting for most of those to come to VOD since I have awful theater experiences especially with horror movies.

I know those are the bigger releases I’m looking forward to. Feel free to suggest anything I missed or anything smaller that I should check out that’s coming out soon or recently released.

Not to keep bringing it up, but have you seen Funny Games? This movie has some of its spirit, but is definitely it’s own entity.

  7. This year in horror movies so far...
It's good and I like it: X, Pearl, Barbarian, Bodies x3, Nope
It's good but I don't like it: Men, Crimes of the Future, The Black Phone
It's not good but I like it: Don't Worry Darling, Umma, The Invitation

I do want to see smile but I’m mainly happy it’s coming out so I don’t have to see the trailer before every movie! I swear it’s been before every movie I’ve seen the last 6 months.

  9. Looking forward to The Menu. Will probably see Smile because I have A-List so why not, and that marketing stunt recently was great. Haven't seen a Halloween movie and not about to start with Ends

  10. Seconding this! Doing a rewatch before Blumhouse's haunted house at Universal this year.
Except for @buttsfamtbh catching shit for his Scream 2 take :crylaugh: and me occasionally clowning on Flannagan.
I have! The original, anyways. I didn't love it tbh, but I did think it was interesting (and probably worth a rewatch).

Ideas for a 6 year old? Just bought a 120" projection screen for the backyard. Thinking Nightmare Before Christmas.

  14. Also Corpse Bride (if you can stand ever seeing anything with Depp again), recent Addams Family, Hotel Transylvania, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown. Coraline might still be too scary. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is definitely still too scary. Maybe Coco if you want to get into Dia de los Muertos

Coraline is up there, as well as Addams Family and Transylvania. All 3 I haven't seen either. He loves Frankenstein (even going as Frank for Halloween), but Weenie looks way to dark. A dog that dies and he brings back to life might be a bit much.

adding: Casper, Addams Family, Muppets Haunted Mansion, Hotel Transylvanias, Toy Story of Terror, Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

For a little older or if your kid(s) can handle slightly scarier: Coraline, Paranorman, Monster House, Monster Squad, Frankenweenie, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Addams Family Values, Goosebumps

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

*whispers* @Aaron Mook deserves more flak for his Flanagan take than butts did for his Scream 2 one

nah, this thread is great. good vibes all around, as we discuss the most horrifying and disturbing shit we have ever seen
