There’s a lot out there to help you stay distracted! Melancholy is plentiful in horror and it can be great medicine!

lost all interest seeing it in theaters when I saw that runtime. Absolutely insane for a slasher.

I really liked the first half of the season, but then …spoilers I guess it resumed the curse/cult storyline and turned into a slog for me; I think I’m in the minority and really disliking those entries, the nika character and Andy being back etc

    Fun week for horror:

    The Munsters
Bring It On: Cheer or Die
    Sissy
    Smile
    Spirit Halloween: The Movie
    Hocus Pocus 2
    My Best Friend’s Exorcism
Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn. Kinda feel weird about posting it, buts it’s notable and in theaters if you’re up to it. I’m not.

Finally finished Bly Manor and I’m caught up on all the Flanagan stuff. What a fantastic run of emotionally unsettling shows. I can’t wait for The Midnight Club.

Drag me to Hell is on Peacock. A favorite of mine.

  8. Ugh, my partner and I separated for a period of time a couple years back and this time of year is also my favorite. I feel for you. Food Network's Halloween content is always a good place to start! Zero emotional investment lol
Oooh, anyone know where Spirit Halloween and My Best Friend's Exorcism will be available?

So I'm on a huge horror kick. I always watched the big and notable horror flicks and never really looked beyond that. Over the last week I've watched:

Hell House LLC - Found footage film. I thought it was scary but I'm sort of new to horror.

Ghostwatch - So scary and quickly became one of my favorite movies ever. I guess this movie was shown once in the UK on Halloween 1992 and never again. It's presented as a news broadcast and shows the story of a family with a mom and 2 daughters who are haunted by a poltergeist. The conceit is old news by now but the presentation is incredible here and I guess the main "news presenter" was a major figure in UK talk shows at the time which only leant to more people believing it was real at the time.

House of the Devil - Dug it. I actually saw this years ago but didn't realize it till partway through and just stuck with it and rewatched.

X - I have the same feelings as many year. Nothing too special but I found it enjoyable.

Bodies, Bodies, Bodies - Really enjoyed this one, especially the twist.

Who Invited Them - Home invasion type horror I guess you would call it. Mid-tier but I enjoyed it.

The Invitation - Another rewatch but still really enjoyed this one. Love movies like this.

The Black Phone - Loved loved loved this. The ending was hopeful which I don't think you can say about many horror films (though I may be wrong).

Nope - instant classic. The one that sent me on this ride. My favorite from Peale. Reminded me of another of my favorite movies, Jaws.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. On my to view list are:

    As Above, So Below
    Happy Death Day
    Happy Death Day 2U
    April Fool's Day
    The Empty Man

I'm sorry guys, I just couldn't buy Aunt Becky from Roseanne as the killer!

On a better note tho, John Carpenter's the Thing and Halloween 3 are both on Peacock.

  12. Great picks!! Based on these, I'd recommend The Houses October Built if you like the found-footage/haunted house is real genre, as well as Haunt (not found footage), Hell Fest, WNUF Halloween Special (similar to Ghostwatch, one of my all-time favorites), Seance, and Jordan Peele's other films (Get Out and Us) if you haven't seen them! If you need help finding any of them, I can let you know if/where they are streaming. Welcome to the thread and report back!

Seen both of these. Loved Midsommar, didn't think much of Hereditary at the time but maybe because my girlfriend at the time really wasn't into it, I'll give it another shot.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I mean I don't love the killer reveal(s) in Scream 2 either tbh. they do kinda feel like the final product of 100 rewrites. up until then tho it fucking rules

Can I just say I love this thread? Hardly any negativity and no one judging what others do and don't like from what I can tell.

Trick r Treat has become a cult Halloween movie in recent years so I’d recommend that one for a seasonal watch.

Ghostwatch rules hard and i’d echo Aaron in going to WNUF next based on your reaction.

I’d throw some Carpenter entries into your itinerary for sure - Halloween (78) obviously but then branching out to The Fog, The Thing, Prince of Darkness, etc.

For home invasion, i’d recommend Them (Ils), and while it’s a bit more extreme and unconventional, Funny Games is worth watching at least once.

Here's where I'm at with the Best Horror Ever bracket for IG. Decided to go 64. For the big franchises, I think I'm going to just do them as a series. Running a "Best of the Series" feature over the next few days to see if any sequels could squeeze their way on there. Kept it as like surface level and basic as possible, haha. Unfortunately had to cut out a lot of classics, foreign films and modern stuff to keep it to 64. Any absolutely glaring omissions? Again, reaching for the most general common denominator with these polls so I had to keep it basic. Something like Trick 'R Treat is a very deep cut for my audience.

Its weird, Silence of the Lambs is probably my favorite movie on that list but it doesn't feel like as much of a horror movie as some of the others.
