Okay after a series of recent food fails I'm gonna try to make dinner tonight for me and my bf. I'm gonna do vegetarian meatloaf which I've done before and was good, broccoli, and cornbread (just jiffy, I'm not Gordon Ramsey here) just cause i pretty much have all those things already at home. I tend to under-season stuff apparently and my bf makes better food so I think his standards are higher. But I'm gonna try my best! I'm nervous send help

Okay so I got the vegetarian meatloaf prepped and followed a recipe online and yes if this is how much I'm supposed to season stuff I DEFINITELY under season. Oop lol. I'm gonna go hard seasoning the broccoli later!!

 

I season the shit out of everything because neither of my parents did growing up. I don’t think they know what salt is.

 

I grew up midwestern to parents born in the 1950’s (aka my grandmother lived/cooked through the Great Depression) so my parents never seasoned things with more than a dash of salt/pep so I definitely season heavily because of that too.

 

I rarely ever use salt at the table but lord do I drown my shit in pepper.

 

Diamond Crystal Kosher salt changed my life

 

The dinner I made turned out rly good! Success!

 

Made some delicious pho this weekened (chicken) and it was one of the best things I've made in a while. I followed the tineats recipe (linked below), and my goodness, did it make the apartment smell amazing. I made sure to get the right rice noodles, and all the herbs (thai basil, mint, cilantro) and it was perfect. Definitely a meal I could duplicate and share with friends to impress. I eat way more ramen than pho, so I can't say it was 'authentic' or restaurant quality, but I can say that it smelled wonderful, tasted just as good and it was a perfect bowl of yumminess on one of the first nights in a while where it got into the 60's!

almost blacked out when i had a bite of that broccolini sandwich it was so good

everything i've tried from this place is on another level

 

I do a produce basket from local farms and they've been heavy on the broccolini lately and I've never thought to do anything but treat it as a side. Never knew it could be a star on a sandwich.

I have made pesto with sunflower seeds and spinach before though and it was amazing and I maybe liked it more than pine nuts.

 

I just watched that the other day. Good shit.

 

I was nearly drooling as I was watching it. To know that you’re pretty much going to sell out of your food every single week is crazy.

before watching this, I kind of scoffed at people willing to wait all day in the Texas heat just for some BBQ (especially since I live in Dallas and would probably pass 50 other BBQ places on the way out to Goldee's) but after salivating over their food for the full entire 30 minute length of that video, I can't wait to go there. Like honestly thinking of waking up early and going tomorrow.

In reality, I probably won't make it there tomorrow (or even in the next few weeks) but I definitely plan on getting there ASAP. I'll for sure report back if/when I go.
