I think it would have been legitimately difficult for Silver to force a sale. Suspension for sure should have been way longer, and that press conference was a tough look, but people forget how messy the Sterling situation was and how difficult it was going to be to actually go through with that ban, which they never had to actually enforce iirc

 

Probably good he's going to LA again so the narrative can be about how much of a "bargain" Rob Pelinka got by paying him a fraction of $84 million, and not about how much better Boston got after dumping him or how no actual contender would touch him with a 10 ft pole.
