While rogue one does tie into the original trilogy it still shows they can make an awesome Star Wars movie without relying on those characters and the skywalker saga or whatever.

i reallllly don’t get the love for Last Jedi. Like, I like it, it’s decent, but I’d rather watch Force Awakens if both are on TV. It’s highs are higher than TFA though. Holdo maneuver is sick as hell and I enjoy all the Rey/Luke and Rey/kylo scenes. I just don’t find it to be some amazing accomplishment of Star Wars film making that some here do haha.

Rogue One is my favorite Disney Star Wars film for sure

 

I've said this before, but while I'm not going to put the movie on a pedestal, I do really like that The Last Jedi is one massive mediation on failure. Not just with Luke, but everything the heroes do in the movie is either rendered completely pointless and unnecessary or was based on horribly misplaced judgement to begin with. And yet it still feels hopeful despite the failure. It feels like despite the failure, they'll still emerge victorious. I like that.

The rebellion is reborn today
And I will not be the last Jedi

 

Yoda in the prequels is a boss and anyone slandering that character is a doofus

Eh, the dark side clouded and interfered with their ability to use the force. Also, him not being at his best is kind of the point. The Jedi got duped and used by Palapatine. We shouldn’t view that time as peak Yoda.

I think one of the major reasons The Last Jedi beats Rogue One for me is because it feels more cohesive. Rogue One is a really good movie, but it is also one where you can definitely feel the massive reshoots and retooling that went on BTS and in post-production.

The Last Jedi gave us the best scene in the sequels: the throne room.

I still wish Kylo and Rey would have joined and created something that was neither for the Rebellion nor the First Order, but whatever. It doesn't take away how awesome it is. Far better than the Ben and Rey team up in Rise of Skywalker.

 

Throne room scene is cool but I love the battle on Crait and it might be my favorite thing visually in the trilogy.

 

Beat scene in the movie is when Yoda arrived imo. The throne room scene was good too, I just didn’t like what came after.
