God, I'd have killed to have Real Estate on the Detroit date.

yea but Ghost are a hot act selling out arenas. They are supposed to be touring right now. I just saw Acacia Strain on Friday and they are doing really small venues on this tour because there are so many bands touring “trying to make up for lost time and lost money” as the Acacia Strain put it.

if they want to fix the problem, by all means stop touring

I mean, I agree. if Ghost have a new album and a good momentum from the last couple of years they have to go for it, but saying "we will tour until 2023 because there are too many tours" when they are on their 3rd tour this year doesnt help the case.

But I understand and agree their point. There are nights where bands with similar fan base have shows the same night in Chicago, and while one is sold out (usually the bigger one), the other have to be moved to smaller venues.

The one good thing about this is that B & C markets seem to be getting a lot more tours. I've heard of bands getting significantly larger guarantees to play at like Reverb in Reading vs in Philly

The over-saturation of tours is an interesting one but ultimately, the stuff that his high demand is like HIGH fucking demand. Used to be you might miss out on a $50 ticket and it'd be going for $180. Now if you miss out on a $110 ticket it's going for $300-400.

It's weird that some think there's an overabundance of tours because I don't have a single thing on my schedule for December yet. And that's not even me cutting bands or anything due to budgeting, there just isn't anything coming here that interests me yet and it's weird.

It may be true that everyone is touring now, but also touring is how artists and bands make money and what does the Ghost dude expect them to do…not tour and sit at home all day and make no money like during the lockdowns?

I also think there might be some trepidation around touring in the winter months, esp around the holidays after last year and omnicron.
