Meant to respond to this yesterday but got caught up in stuff.

Yeah I mean I kind of "get it" for lack of a better term...if more people have more money, then suddenly the supply we usually have isn't enough so okay inflation. But this is where we should be trying to improve our supply chain lines and increase domestic production of things! That 2nd part might not help much with inflation because American workers will cost more than foreign ones, but at least it gets more people employed, puts money in their pockets, and increases tax revenues. And if given the choice between the two, I'd take some higher prices over the entire economy tanking on purpose. LIke yeah great it'll make things cheaper for me in the short term, but on the flip side, what about any investments or retirement accounts I have that depend on the market for their value? What about my home value? etc etc.....But in the end I don't think these measures are going to work because I really don't think money supply is the issue anymore, if it ever was during this last year+. It's clearly a supply chain issue with certain products, combined with things like climate change crushing our crop yields this year (which is why food prices were still up on the latest report despite an overall lower number). You're not gonna interest rate raise your way out of that.

 

...and I guess the point can be made well, if we tank the economy hard enough, so many people will be unable to afford things because they'll lose their jobs and that will fix our supply chain and food supply issues. Which is probably true, but...doesn't seem like a great plan!
