seriously Mexican food is cheap everywhere (except the northeast).

I am hooked on this local spot called Burrito Gallery. They have a rooftop bar and a fantastic view of downtown and 4 dollar house margaritas that are LOADED with tequila and 4 TVs and NFL Sunday Ticket. They also make a home-made chimchurri lime / pepper sauce that I could like, drink

 

Yeah I need to find a place that will show rams games that isn't a straight up bar.

 

A lot of places here that usually claim they aren't just bars are usually still like 90% bar lol there used to be a sick wing place that was super cheap that my friends and I used to go to that had gigantic tvs but they closed down sadly.

okay so, I am Hispanic by race, yes, but none of the culture or ability to speak the language is in my living family. I'm gonna elaborate on this cause I like you guys in this thread and I don't mind you all getting to know who I am a bit better.

I am Greek, Black, Mexican, Spanish (like Spain), Native American, French, Irish, Jewish, and German and I have no idea which races are most prevalent (probably black actually, both of my grandfathers were at least half black). To be honest, I hate having to pick one when someone (or some standardized test or government form) asks my heritage. Because the funny thing is, my family has been mixing races since LONG before it was accepted in society, and it's been filtered through American culture (both white and black, united) for so long that none of my immigrant ancestors were even alive by the time I was born. I only really identify with American culture and it's weird being asked to claim a different ethnicity, just because my family had the social foresight to understand theres nothing wrong with an interracial relationship.

It makes the current discussion that's going on about racial tension and conflict really interesting because my family has always been a blend and I never grew up with any premonitions about any race or skin color whatsoever. All of it is in the Mentzos family tree.

Hell, my mom's whole side of the family is from New Orleans. White and black members of the family all talk with an urban swagger, I just don't feel the need to distinguish by color because people of every color and race act every way at any family gathering I go to, and it's been that way since I was a baby.

Either way, I've always thought "Hispanic" as a racial identifier is a bit troubling, as I've always associated it with Spanish cultural descent: so my Caucasian brother in law from Puerto Rico would identify as Hispanic, although his actual genetic makeup is mostly Western European, because of his Spanish culture and his name (Lopez). If a racial term must be applied to those traditionally viewed marked as Hispanic, "Latino" seems more apt and more respectful, especially for areas whose populations are more genetically owed to indigenous populations, such as Peru, Venezuela, etc.

Personally, I've always felt that racial categories should be based off of ice cream/pudding flavors: chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch, lemon, etc.. Ain't nobody ascribing a negative connotation to the term "Chocolate American."

 

i think Latino is so ambiguous cause that's grouping people by strictly language. Nevermind that Argentinians are VASTLY different from Hondurans. And then they make you select "Latino or NOT" and if you choose yes then you can't pick any other races or whatever... so stupid. There's no reason to be that selective about race unless you are trying to use the data to discriminate, twist information, and misallocate funding.
