Player's Log: I found out what remained of Edith Finch. 100% completion.

Very good game, I can see why it got such acclaim. I like the varied mix of gameplay as the stories went on. I especially liked the Tales From The Crypt chapter and the Lost-esque chapter, because they made me smile from the reference. Very sad stories though.

Anyway, continuing with Annapurna games; next I'll do Donut County.

Crazy that it took nearly 15 years for them to finally make a Japanese setting is insane. People have been begging for that forever. I haven't played AC since the 3rd one but depending on reviews I think I might finally try one out again.

Yes. And I probably will get to Stray too, but I want to do some smaller games first and I don't know how long Stray is. I mean, I know it's not Elden Ring, but I finished Edith in two hours. I want to do stuff like that.

I would say if you are just going for story it might take you 4-5 hours on your first play through, depending upon how good you are with puzzles.
If you are going for completion, mileage may vary and may god (or what you do or not believe in) have mercy on your soul. I shared with you the one Trophy.

Finished Tinykin. Loved the whole thing although I will admit that I skipped through almost all of the dialogue so I have no idea what the story was even about, lol.

Next up will probably be Immortality.

I like that they're scaling back the scope of the game for Mirage. I think the more focused entries in the series are the better ones. Japan sounds interesting, too, though. Pretty psyched about both games. I have no idea what the other stuff is about.

The ending was a little weird. But it’s a loose post apocalyptic/end of the planet storyline.

  13. Absolutely loving Immortals Fenyx Rising, except for a few annoying puzzles here and there.

It's interesting that character progression is based entirely on resource collection rather than xp/levels, 8Doors--a metroidvania rather than an open world rpg--was kind of the same way. Now that I think about it, so was Prey, and that's often considered a fps metroidvania. Maybe I'm just overthinking the distinction between Kill enemy or perform task to gain xp => Level up to gain ability point vs. Gain resource upon killing enemy or exploring => Spend resource on ability.

Player's Log: Okay, Donut County is now 100%. Very cool, addicting, sometimes amusing, but bizarre game. Game I can only think to compare it to is Katamari Damacy, but instead of collecting stuff in a ball, you're collecting stuff in a hole.

Anyway, next up, I think I'll do Florence. I'm just crossing a lot of these Annapurna games off my list.

Player's Log: Okay, now Florence is 100%. Very cute, short and sweet game about the blossoming, fracturing, and eventual dissolution of a relationship. It's touching without being overly sad; there's no real dialogue in the game. It's just you basically pointing and clicking various actions.

Next I'm going to play A Memoir Blue.

So weird thing happened. I was just starting A Memoir Blue and the power went out here for a second and caused my computer to restart. No big deal, really.

I restart A Memoir Blue and now it won't go past the very first bit of the game. I drag this radio underwater, it goes black, and it's supposed to go to a scene of someone getting an award, but instead it stays black and the music keeps playing.

I've restarted my computer again, checked the integrity via Steam, deleted all the save data just in case, and it keeps doing it. I'm now reinstalling the game completely, but if this doesn't work, I don't know what to make of it. It's fucking bizarre.

I think Donut County is on GamePass. I might download and check it out.

Okay, I figured out what was wrong. I guess when the power went out, my saved game in the Steam Cloud got corrupted, and every time the game tried to sync with Steam, the save kept fucking things up.

I turned off sync, uninstalled the game, deleted all the temp files, and reinstalled without sync, and now it's fine.

    Player's Log: A Memoir Blue, 100%.

A very pretty mix of 2D animation and 3D animation that was sort of vague for much of the game as to what was actually happening, but if you stop and think about things, you can piece it together. There's no dialogue and a lot of what happens is very clearly either metaphor or just outright a dream sequence. The ending got me though, I am a huge sucker for heartwarming and the game had my number.

For my next game selection, I'm going to finish that swan.

I love having little easy indie games that are quick to complete. They break up the big games and get you motivated to tackle them.

Player's Log: The Unfinished Swan remains unfinished, at least for tonight. I got through Chapter 2, which is like halfway through the game, maybe a little more than halfway.

I also got the worst achievement to get in the game, the Minimalist that requires you to complete the first section of Chapter 1 with only 3 ink blasts or less. I had a video walkthrough guide me step by step, but it was still obnoxious. Now the rest of the achievements are easy peasy.

Once I'm done with The Unfinished Swan, I'm not sure what I want to do next. Maybe Journey?

My immediate options are Journey, I Am Dead, Last Stop, and The Artful Escape. I'm saving Stray for last. I have some other Annapurna games too, but those are the ones I'm interested in for the moment.
