it went to a documentary which is fascinating

 

well the last documentary to win something at that level was Fahrenheit 9/11 courtesy of jury president Quentin Tarantino....

Idk how I feel about docs being in the same competitions. It just feels like it's a completely separate criteria and it's not like they can win a lot of the other awards (actor, screenplay, actress)

After seeing No Bears and Saint Omer get jury prizes I wanted to see Blonde win for the sheer chaos

Hahahahaha oh man that was fucking awesome. What an ending.

Todd Field is just a master, so perfectly directed and yeah no flaws with Cate Blanchett at all


that accordion scene (get it, accordion fellows????) is such a vibe

 

Really enjoyed this. Blanchett is a fucking powerhouse as always. The more I think about it the more I like how it unfolded.

 

There's just so much depth and small details to it.

The scene where she crashes the stage of the concert is just brilliant in every way. She's too blinded by her ego to realize that she's been replaced, she doesn't even notice the music starts and just sees it as playing her on. The trumpeter was offstage like she wanted, but not in the same setup that she practiced with showing that she lost control over the orchestra. And then you have Mark Strong conducting, and iirc his character is supposed to be a shitty conductor and is really just a financier, so that's also an added element of showing that he used his position of power too, albeit in a different way
Pretty sure this is coming to VOD mid-November and I can't wait to be able to read all the fake Wikipedia pages and articles they show
