Very often I get in a reading slump and just get a craving for a long summer horror novel, especially now with summer approaching. And I think it’s because IT was the first King novel I read and really the book which got me re-into reading years back.

And literally every time I think: “there’s nothing that will beat IT and I should just re-read IT.” Just so god damn good lol

Any ways I’m gonna try Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon as my next read.

I started Firestarter in May hoping to finish it before the movie came out. I haven't cracked 100 pages yet

I've been on a tear of Stephen King short stories. My library app had both Night Shift and The Bazaar of Bad Dreams available, so I have been listening to those non-stop. I plan on actually reading Different Seasons in a few weeks when I am on vacation.

About 100 pages into the Regulators! I stupidly didn’t read this one after Desperation (when I read that years back). Already loving it. I feel like I’ll fly through this.

Blazing through Salem's Lot. Need recommendations on what to pick up next. Something similar to what I've already read (It, The Shining, Pet Sematary).

Dead Zone because it’s incredible and I also have recency bias.

One day I'm going to get someone to read The Dark Half. It's going to happen. Mark my words, internet.

  11. I’m deciding between that and The Talisman for my next King.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

The Dark Tower is a helluva time commitment but goddamn, it's amazing

Is there a reason why in Salem's Lot Barlow was able to enter the Petrie house without an invitation? Haven't finished so maybe it's explained later.

All this dead zone recs so I have it ordered now. Just another reason to delay beginning the dark tower series I've owned forever lol

Just finishing Salem's Lot and man it's depressing. Their utter failure is pretty disappointing especially with my brain full of the almost 50 years of pop vampire stories since its release screaming about all the things they're doing wrong and everything they didn't try to stop it.

I still enjoyed the prose, but it was easy to see that this was only his second novel. The foundation was strong and all the signatures were there, he just got so much better and refined.

    Starting Dead Zone today.

I went to a local used book store to find a cheap copy. Found a copy but didn't see a price on it so I just assumed from other purchases I've made there it'd be like 5 bucks. When I got rung up the guy said it'd be $50(!). I was too embarrassed to say no thanks so I just bought it. Turns out it was an original book club edition so I guess that's cool.

Took a little break from King but I'm wrapping up Cujo now.

Will do either Billy Summers or 'Salem's Lot next. I read Salem years and years ago and just recently watched the Hooper adaptation. I remember not loving the book for some reason so I'm interested to see what I think now.

Me too. Will start after I wrap up Billy Summers -- which is solid so far. About halfway through.

I’m just shy of 200 pages into Fairy Tale and what I love so much about Stephen King is I’ve spent some decent pages with these characters and super into it … and I’m sensing this is still just the beginning.

The first chapter is tremendous, one of the best first chapters I've read in a long time, as far as setting the book up and filling in a complete backstory. I'm 100 pages in now, and the book just feels so fucking dense with character and emotion, I have no idea when the main plot is going to kick in, but I am loving every moment with these characters.

It's very late King, Dr Sleep/ Joyland emotional rollercoaster.

Also for anyone curious about the length, the book is 600 pages, which is slightly longer than his recent work, but I also noticed that the words per page is pretty huge compared to the Mercedes books or Institution. So I'm guessing this will make a 700-800 MM paperback.
