One Piece

I know there’s a few One Piece fans on here.
I tried watching the show a while ago and I wasn’t into it, but someone recommended reading it instead. I started this year and am obsessed now. I read some before bed every night and am at Fish Man Island now.

What are your favorite moments? Characters? Arcs?

 

The manga is so much better than the anime.

 

It's been a favorite of mine since I first picked up in 2007, though I've been inconsistent when it comes to following it.

I stopped around the end of the Dressrosa arc back then. It's been so long I don't even remember when that was happening and I haven't got further since. I didn't want to pick up where I left off in case I was forgetting a lot of backstory, so I've tried to start again from the very beginning a couple years ago and stopped at Sky Island this time. Reading consistently isn't my strong point!

I'd love to finally catch up with the last 7(?) years or more of story that I've missed, but I've read the early arcs so many times that I'm like "Can I skip them?", though I'm wary that by doing this I'll miss out on some easter eggs or important foreshadowing.

 

I can't keep up with that art at all lol. Tony Chopper is the homie tho.

 

There’s a lot of cool channels on Youtube that have arc reviews or summaries. When I finish an arc, I watch them to see other peoples’ thoughts.

 

Just started the anime. Don't know if I've got the time to read the manga, but I'm loving the show so far.

currently on the Arlong Park arc, really enjoying it for sure. Not sure why I wrote this show off when I was younger.

 

Each anime ep is approx one manga chapter and as a result just about every ep drags out way too long to fill the ~20min. So if you have time for the anime then you would for sure have the 1/5 time to read the manga lol

 

It’s crazy how huge of an artistic leap the anime took once Wano came around. As if the series finally caught up to the anime of the past decade. The big end fight is less than 1/2 over and it’s still borderline movie-level animation on a weekly show of all things. Pretty wild

 

I wish I liked Wano more, there was a lot of great stuff in there but everything just felt so dragged out and I feel like the art and storytelling are both getting messier as it goes on. Hoping he can really pull it all together well for the ending if it's moving into the endgame soon.

 

It's easier to watch the anime because with that my 3 year old is kind of entertained with it, trying to read with him would take me forever. But one day I will go down that path.

 

Have you considered that you could read ahead without him knowing and then pretend to be making predictions and always be 100% right and he thinks you’re a genius?

I just started the Punk Hazard arc. The Fish-Man island arc was good, but I’ve heard people say it’s not exactly the best arc post timeskip and that’s got me excited.

I’ve been binging the manga and I’m done with Wano. The third act kinda dragged, but the ending was awesome. Chapters 1043 and 1044 are all-timers. We get so much lore and world building.

I wouldn’t be surprised!

 

I'm so slow watching this. But I'm in the Water 7 arc and really enjoying this arc a lot more than I liked Skypeia already. Sad I put this show off for so long.

 

A lot of people say Skypeia is their least favorite arc. I liked it, but it did drag a bit.

 

I was enjoying it but yeah it just seemed to keep going and going and I was definitely ready for it to be over at a point.

This was me with Alabasta. I finally powered through it and got hooked again with the sky island mystery stuff. Then it just stoppppppps in the middle. All the stuff inbetween getting to a new place and Luffy beating up the big bad just hasn't held my attention

I'm pushing through though. I'm also reading the newest chapters and they fucking rule

I’m officially all caught up and ready for chapter 1088 tomorrow. Dang, after Wano things get crazy.

 

Why does Mihawk always wear a cross necklace? Does Jesus exist in One Piece?! Even if it is a knife and sheath, weird shape…
