weird how the knicks offer only devolved from opening talks. isn't that the opposite of how it normally is supposed to work?

 

It’s homerism and I’m probably overrating the guy, but I think any deal for Mitchell involving RJ would have been so stupid, I’m annoyed it even got that close

I like the trade for Cleveland only because small market teams have a harder time attracting established players and Mitchell will probably be better for them than drafting and developing more players with those picks. Plus, Allen and Mobley will help cover his defensive shortcomings. That said, we never got to see much of Sexton with the rest of that roster, and I think Utah did very well to land him. He's actually got higher career field goal and 3 pt percentages than Mitchell, and while he's not much more than a 6'1" scorer, neither is Mitchell.

 

Yeah, I'm a HUGE Sexton guy and think he got a real bad rap from fans in Cleveland. He's a walking bucket while being very efficient. His competitiveness and fire is off the charts. Also going to miss Lauri. A huge part of the Cavs success was starting three 7-footers in the front court. Made it a nightmare for opponents. The Cavs obviously lose that advantage (I'm actually hoping the Cavs start Dean Wade at the 3 this year).

Both teams did very well in this trade, imo. Hopefully the Cavs' core stays together for the next 6-8 years and the lost draft picks won't even matter. Plus, the picks are so far away, they can still recoup first-rounders by then if things go sour, but Garland is guaranteed to be here another 6 years, Allen another 4, Mitchell another 3 and Mobley likely isn't going anywhere for the next 6-8 years either.
