They're basically hired to come in and tell an organization how to save money and/or improve processes. This often results in cost-cutting, layoffs, and things like that. But it might also be used for when a company is entering a new market and doesn't have enough staff on hand with knowledge of how to make that launch successful.

 

For my current job I find/research a tonnnn of venture capital/finance LinkedIn pages, and there's a reason most who have consultant experience only have a few years of it before ditching for other, more normal jobs - because the experience sucks ass, and they also know that once they get that badge on their resume/CV, they'll easily get poached by these other/better jobs

 

Well--well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
