Okay, now include the wages, agent fees, and backhanders to his father.

Martial out for the Arsenal game. Might see Ronaldo starting.

to be honest, more players need to be smart and demand release clauses unless it’s a dream club situation. Someone like Zaha comes to mind, good player and probably would have gotten another move to a big club if it weren’t for him being an incredibly important and high priced player for Palace.

Then you would also need to do it for the players on that graphic then as well.

Right, but the idea is that Haaland would be as expensive or really much more expensive than most of them on there even with that all included for the other players. Purely putting transfer fee is misleading - the original author of that tweet knows that and is trying to get a rise out of rival fans. Commentators go on about Haaland being a bargain because of his transfer fee constantly, but it's missing so much context it's unreal. The fee was low because it was a release clause, and because it was made up with higher payments via other avenues.

  8. It sounds like Romero and Bentancur will be in the squad tomorrow. Finally going to have the entire squad available.

yeah I mean, that's why I think players should put the release clauses in. saving 50m in transfer fee adds 50m potentially to your channels

I'm sure there's no real source/real number that we'll ever know since we're not City's accountants, but the one figure I found for all of Haaland's secret stuff still has him cheaper than Antony.

  11. Conte states the obvious in a presser and it's blown out of proportion and taken out of context. Rinse, repeat.

Think I read the same number that was transfer fee + agents fee. It's been said there was a third fee to Alfie as well.

To be fair if, after all fees accounted for, Haaland is still cheaper than some of the players there, then fair play, good work by City. United definitely overpaid for Antony so wouldn't surprise me if his figure was higher when all is said and done.

It's more just the disingenuous use of transfer fee alone that annoys me. Designed purely to make fans of other teams either think "my team's board sucks, why couldn't they have made that deal" or "my team's board sucks that they missed out on this hidden gem". Haaland (and others) are known quantities. The release clause meant that it became a bidding war on other factors (financial and sporting) and City won.

  14. Haaland is worth more than whatever the real number is imo haha

Yeah, I'd agree with that and to add we overpaid for Antony, we overpaid for Licha but it only really matters if the transfer doesn't work out. PSG arguably overpaid for Mbappe (obviously a fantastic talent at the time, had only one full season of football and sold for 180m), but it worked out and everyone forgets the price tag. We overpaid for Maguire and it's a millstone around his neck

This is also true haha. Bargain at twice the price.

this kinda confirms how shitty our scouts are. two right footed wingers, thuram mostly plays on the left pulisic both, as alternatives to a left footed right winger that we have been crying out for.

  18. Apparently, Spurs were looking into Zaha but decided against it. I wouldn't be surprised if that is revisited in the January window.

But everyone is gonna say he’s miserable lol

Hes not wrong. This is a great start to building but more needs to be done, and that’s not a bad thing.

I think my point with the transfer fee thing is that if you are going to compare his against others than you either use the reported fee without any of the addons or we talk about the reported fee plus the addons for everyone on that list. Just compare the apples to apples and the oranges to oranges is my point I guess because all of those deals have addons on them. Though to be fair I would probably guess the fees for Haaland are probably higher than most on that list.

  21. City and Liverpool have been 20+ points ahead of everyone else for a few years now. Impossible to close that gap in one summer window lol and it’s what Conte has said from the beginning.
