I don't mind the language, hell, I used to learn Spanish for two years and I love it, but it just sounds forced and bland, I'd probably enjoy it as some one-time OG quote in a verse or something, but the chorus as it is, is just bad (I need to go back to it a bit though, maybe it will click, cause I see you've mentioned it gets even better with time)

Same here, it's not that it makes me angry or throw up or whatever hahah, it's just I'm used to hearing lyrics like that in different context; people dancing or something. I usually don't focus on lyrics when I'm forced into a club at night etc., but lately I've been trying to decipher some hits and it's quite funny. Though it is what it is for me as English is my L2, I only have to decipher the lyrics when I want to/need to. Or maybe if the vibe was more cutting/sarcastic, here the song sounds a bit romantic and then you have the lyrics trying something like that. Just weird.

 

Someday lyrics are just dumb, but the guitar reminds me of a mid-90s post grunge ballad like Glycerine.

 

i was listening to them in the car the other day with my mom and she actually said his voice reminds her of bush haha

 

I actually quite like Someday. The one line is whatever, but I like the guitar riff and I enjoy the tone it has.

 

Dimensional Love still isn't grabbing me the way it has others, but I'll keep trying. The hook eludes me.
Maybe my favourite part of the whole album is "it feels like I'm almost there now"

 

I was a big fan of the Glycerine cover they used to do!

 

The whole album gets better with each listen IMO.

 

I am definitely getting a little more into this with more listens. It’s still not nearly anywhere close to the highs and expectations set from Mother Nature. It will probably rank somewhere at the bottom for me next to Golden Record …. but I wouldn’t say it’s bad. It’s just kind of there.

Dimensional Love, Coming Home, Goodbye, All I Ever Wanted, Polarity are all solid.

 

It does get better, I listened to it again at night and tried to take all the slow songs separately, not waiting for the mood to shift now, no expectations etc., most times I find something to enjoy for sure!

 

Decent album, I concur with whoever said this is one of AJ's best vocal performances. "Gold Star" almost gets there as a sick song.

 

" In the throws of Creation..." what direction do you think the next album will go? I'm hoping for heavier and faster. They seem to be heading the other direction, but excited to hear it regardless.

That would be dope. I think A.J and this Will Beasley producer are really tight. When I looked at the credits for Broken Glowstick songs it had Will Beasley as the other songwriter on all the tracks

 

I've given this album some time to breathe before really working out my thoughts with it. It isn't Mother Nature - no doubt, but IMO that's their best effort.

It's still really good. I think Sideways, Polarity, Dimensional Love & Goodbye are my personal standouts.

 

Yep, I really like this album! Goodbye is starting to be one of my favorites.

 

The second half of this album is shockingly blowing me away.

In terms of the Spanish lyrics, it's my first language, and I had to take a moment to recognize what he was saying because his accent is so off —but it somehow works.

Gold Star hits me hard, especially the line: "Everyone eventually floats away."

Simple, but a potent way to summarize the experience of growing up and seeing valued relationships slip away.

I don’t really like/care for Big Green Eyes or Gold Star and Polarity is kinda their take on an Oasis song and I also think it’s meh.

Also, Meeting Me In The Morning is slightly annoying because he sings the title in Spanish and it ruins it for me, which is weird bc I typically like that stuff since I speak it fluently. If it wasn’t for that, I’d say that track would fit right on RFTS.

Still not a bad album and stoked to have new TDS.

 

Is it just me (I’m not a Spanish speaker) or is he pronouncing it pretty poorly?

 

When I compared Someday to that song I had no clue TDS ever covered it. There you go.
