The intro/first verse of Whatever Who Cares reminds me of Peripheral Vision a bit. This could also be due to the fact that New Scream auto-played after I watched the music video last night lol

But this implies that bands record vocals without intention. Which makes zero sense to me. Or that they don’t think about how it comes across or how it jives with the music. Which again, doesn’t make sense to me.

This is a great read. I've been thinking a lot about the whole idea of "emo nostalgia" and what it means to people, specifically the artists. Ultimately, I can see why artists are afraid to be pigeonholed into that category, but I feel like we as fans are doing such a disservice to the genre by creating this rule that, like, "emo" was only allowed to exist between year x to x. The genre can very well exist today without feeling like it needs to live in nostalgia.

This probably makes no sense to anyone, but I needed to get it off my chest and y'all are the lucky winners.

The new song is so, so good!

 

It's different from Ben's typical push that he applies to his voice. In the future, you could just ask what I meant by something if you don't understand it. And yes, many bands get into the studio and just record vocals the way the singer normally sings and lay down the track. This is not how Ben normally sings while still being distinctly him. So, I am giving a positive comment regarding his vocal choice for this song and I'm not sure how that's hard to understand.

How Far Apart

 

I still can’t believe it’s been 15 years since their last full length. I’m really into the new songs.

These guys are the reason I ever started using guitar effect pedals lol. I always loved the way they use delay.

 

Whatever who cares is so good, really loving the mixture of vibes from their past work.

 

This doesn't imply anything if you read the whole thread and see that it was a return to other comments, some positive reassurement for people to have in mind while complaining Ben's not gonna sing the same after 15 years. Maybe "conscious" would be more fitting thatn "intentional" then, but why bother reading too much into it ;))

 

Just got a notification that my vinyl is arriving today - v exciting!

Yeah! I got it from Equal Vision’s site so I’m not sure how or why but according to tracking - it’s going to arrive today.
