Seriously tho I heard fireworks at my place a full minute before the decisive ball four occurred on my screen, gotta do something about this stream delay

 

He was a Yankees prospect for a long time, apparently their top ranked prospect ahead of Judge and Gary Sanchez in 2016 per Baseball America haha. Went to Oakland in the Sonny Gray trade and then San Diego where he was a bench piece.

All I really knew about him last year when the O's claimed him was that he had great speed, but I had no idea he could be this good in the field. He's really solidified the SS position. And his bat has now taken off in the second half of this year. Definitely thought he was going to be a stopgap until Gunnar Henderson or one of the O's other SS prospects made it to the majors, but at this rate it's hard to imagine them moving Mateo off SS. He seems to be playing his way into a long-term role.

 

And yeah, Urias is another waiver claim that's surprised me a lot. Very solid in the field and goes through some pretty impressive hot stretches at the plate, but can also run cold at times. I think he's going to end up being pushed into a utility role when some of the middle infield prospects debut, but he's well suited for that I think.
