oh man I forgot about that scene in Looming Tower where we see the on the ground perspective of an Al-Qaeda training camp getting hit by cruise missiles and they make it look near-supernatural like something out of the bible or quran.

That whole subplot with the little kid surviving the cruise missile strike, and then going on to be on boat that hit USS Cole was probably the weakest part of the series though.

  2. Saaaaame! My wife loves having them on. I can deal with it. But my only rule is no subtitles on comedies. It gives away the jokes and makes me so mad.

I live in an apartment so I use subtitles at night so I can keep the volume low at like 10 or so and not bother my neighbors.

subtitles are great because people talk so quickly sometimes I miss lines or can't get exact quotes

  5. Subtitles are essential when streaming, I have mild auditory processing issues. If I particularly liked something in theaters, I'd almost always rewatch with subtitles on just to get everything

  7. Maybe I'm more used to seeing it because I used to watch so much anime in Japanese. I can see how it can be distracting for people who don't particularly need them

Literally same. The ONE exception is I Think You Should Leave because I need to watch every second of Tim Robinson's expressions

I love watching things from the early nineties with subs because about 10% of what you see on screen isn't what they are say.

I’m the same, auditory processing issues aren’t fun. When I don’t watch with subtitles, I always miss too much.

I love subtitles. Kinda sucks sometimes with comedies tho when the subtitles spoil the joke and appear before the line is said by the actor. But I still keep them on every time cause I tend to miss bits of dialogue

Continuing on with DC animated movies. Injustice is a decent condensed version of the game (idk how in depth the comics go). I was waiting the entire time for multiversal shenanigans/alternate selves though and it only came in at the very end, wasted opportunity, kinda just made me wanna replay the game.

I'm realizing that with these DC animated movies that tend to be under ninety minutes, I'm not super into anything that doesn't directly involve Batfam or Bat's rogues gallery. I think I'm just less familiar with the lore with most of these characters if I haven't seen them elsewhere already. Shows just naturally have more time to flesh out characters, and in the case of CW shows--and Young Justice--those characters tended to be queer/poc.

I really, really hate everything Zaslav is doing with WBD

I watch pretty much everything with them on. Honestly more than a hearing aid it just helps me internalize minor details more. And names too, I can be so bad with names

  16. Also idk if anyone in here is still watching The Resort, but this newest episode was great. The tooth scene felt kinda out of place but otherwise it was the most this show has resonated with me yet

I use subtitles late at night to avoid my wife waking up at 3am and asking why I have watched four episodes of The Terminal List

  19. I get distracted by reading and watching at the same time, if that makes sense, so no subtitles for me

I watch a lot of anime and foreign films with subtitles but can't imagine having them on for English stuff, would definitely distract me.

  23. Assault on Arkham is a really fun Suicide Squad team up set in the Arkham-verse. Lots of great action sequences very reminiscent of the games. Probably my least favorite depictions of Waller, Deadshot, and King Shark, though. At least Harley is great, when Joker's not around

If you watch English dubs instead of subtitles for anime, the community treats it as a crime. I eventually started adding them for all movies and shows now. I’m used to it haha.
