I think Broken Glowsticks sleeping through a car crash would have really brought up that second half

Only halfway through the record but surprised that I think “Big Green Eyes” is just not a good song. Vocally and instrumentally I find it similar to “Someday” and I just think they are both … boring, I guess - guitar-wise, lyrically, and vocally

They've got great slower songs in their catalog, but I think they're most effective when used sparingly. "Northern Lights" works really well in part because it's the only song like that on RFTS. This album and the EP just spend a little too much time at low/midtempo.

This is pretty disappointing. Just put on Work In Progress and it’s shocking this is the same band. Guess it’s not outside of AJ, so maybe it makes sense.

Surprised with the tempo of the second half. I don’t mind mid-tempo - like I’d love an album that sounds like “Bring Me Back to Life” entirely - but this doesn’t really do that.

Album is … fine. The title track as lead single really made me think they had another MN - it had that energy and vibe for me, but that’s really the only song that does.

Title track, Dimensional, and Sideways are my only real standouts

Wide Open comes across as a less effective Violent Red, which I would also argue is a weaker moment of MN

Goodbye is like AJ’s version of Olivia Rodrigo’s hope ur ok

Honestly think other than the title track, that would have made for the best song of this bunch

I don't think this is their best album but I actually really like it. I enjoy the slower songs, I think they work well. Then again, I enjoyed Golden Record (vocals included) when it came out so perhaps I'm not the best judge of this band's music.

i really dont think this is that bad. solid 7.5/10, only thing i really dont like is someday. otherwise i dont dislike anything and quite a bit stands out to me as warranting repeat listens. could grow on me in time or i could get sick of it real quick, we'll see, but yeah id say its about on par with the self-titled.

he did but hes still an incredible musician and has contributed a lot of good shit to this band in his time

  14. imo this is better overall than Golden Record (which has way higher highs and way lower lows) and far far better than the s/t which to me is unbelievably dull

This feels pretty forgettable to me. It just seems like in 3 months I’m gonna say: “oh shit I forgot they released that.” Which stinks because this is one of my favorite bands.

It just sounds bored, slow, and the vocal mix sounds muddy at times. I just didn’t find anything that captured me in.

Man, this was a little bit of a struggle to even get through. The first three songs are the best on here by a wide margin, and even those really don’t measure up to their past stuff. I can’t imagine thinking of this as anything but their weakest. Feels half baked all around.

I think they need to stay away from piano tracks.

I tend to enjoy Dangerous Summer most when they are aggressive and retain the little bit of the Punk and dare i say Emo that had since the beginning. I know A.J has stated he wanted to stray away from the Pop Punk leanings and be more mainstream which is cool, but That's why I felt Mother Nature worked cause you had the super chill songs: like it is real and better light. But those songs was surrounded by their aggressive live band sound. This album hits a straightaway of ballad like songs and outside of wide open it stays that way the rest of the album. The songs are good its just, don't want them to abandoned their live sound on record if that makes sense

I listened to on my way to and from work on first listen. Then when I got home I went for a long run outside (beautiful day). And it really connected with me. I’m here for it!

dimensional love is my runaway favorite after a couple listens. excellent song that stands up to their best material, imo. love the synth flourishes.

To put things into perspective though I put Mother Nature on immediately after listening to the new album just now and man, Mother Nature is just on a different level.

Yeah kind of surprised by all the negativity but maybe it's because I kind of became a fan of them latter on besides the big songs from reach for the sun. The first album I sat down and listened to in full was Mother Nature but it wasn't something I ever came back to a lot. Really started listening to them more with the last EP

Anyways agree that someday lyrics are cringe but overall I think this is really good

i've decided someday is actually good as long as I get distracted by something for approximately 10 seconds at :50. was listening to the album on a walk earlier today and walked by someone edging their grass at that time. it was perfect
