So wondering how this works because at the end of my time in college because I took so long to finish that I fell off having to use my parents info for FAFSA so I got Pell Grant money but not for the entire time I took out loans or went to college.

This was our experience...got REALLY lucky with the sleep. With one major exception-he came 9-10 weeks early, so those first 2-3 months were hellish. The doctors said because he was so early, his nerves on his skin probably weren't ready to feel contact of linens and etc, so that was making him uncomfortable. And then he also had reflux. So from july when he came home until about october, he would not sleep on his back. When you laid him down on his back, he'd last about 20 minutes before fussing. So we spent July/august holding him on our chests while he slept. Then when I went back to work in Septemeber, my wife did hte big no-no of falling asleep with him on her chest. We would set up pillows that would basically prevent her from turning in her sleep, but she's usually also pretty still sleeping. But without doing that our kid wouldn't have slept and neither would she. Finally the docs started treating his reflux in October and that completely changed things. He started sleeping for 3-4 hours at a time, which was right around when we needed to feed him, and has been a great sleeper ever since. I'm so happy about it because sleep is so good for brain development. But yeah overall we got so lucky with his sleeping after those first couple months. He's 3 now and so far no sleep regression, will joyfully lay in bed even if he's still awake and giggle or sing to himself until he passes out, etc.

So yeah if its if you ever got a Pell Grant then you then qualify for the 20k that will be huge for me. That is over 2/3 of what I owe right now.

I tried to request my username from the FAFSA website and it told me there is no ID associated with my information. So then I went to create an account and if fells me there IS an ID associated with my information. Wtf??

Ah, acid reflux would be tough on a little guy. Yeah, the thing that blew my mother's mind when watching my kid is the fact that she never gets out of bed when awake. Books, singing, etc. until sleep or it's morning and time to get up. She said I absolutely did not do that as a kid.

My loans were fully paid off in December 2019, and I’m happy for every single person that will benefit from this. Student loans are tough to navigate financially, so I’m happy that my wife’s remaining $6K is about to get wiped out.

I definitely had pell grants since my parents were poor. 20K would wipe out the interest I’ve accrued since not being able to pay since graduation. It’s not great, but it does help me realistically be able pay these loans off eventually. I’m lucky enough to had created a crazy career opportunity for myself due to Covid hitting that’ll allow me to get on top of this for the first time since graduating in 2014. I know there’s a lot of people it won’t help much and further progress is needed, but I’m glad this is a least a start. Still, fuck the loan industry. Burn it all down.

My dad had a good income but we also had to file for bankruptcy due to medical bills so idk what the government would have given me

Not trying to get too excited until I fully see what all this entails and if they are any caveats but the feeling of relief that is already coming over me is great. I wish it was more so more people could get that feeling but seriously $20k is huge for me personally. Really puts a light at the end of this tunnel and lets me get this burden off me.
