I’m so damn stoked for Academy Is, it really hit me today

  2. I really like this lineup even if there’s not a crazy booking this year. Timeshares is probably one of the smallest headliners they’ve had, but they’re awesome. Max from Signals Midwest plays guitar for them.

I still probably won’t go, but for anyone coming in from out of town, it’s a great opportunity to see Telethon, who are incredible and don’t tour much.

Ramona and Telethon are both incredible. I don't really care about Timeshares, and Kali Masi is just "fine" but still... That's a sweet line-up! Unfortunately, it looks like the start time is 10pm and Ramona plays first so I probably have to pass because of the Misfits.

Sidenote: Kyle Kinane discussed the Riot Fest line-up as his "Chicago Mothman" character on his podcast this week and the way he broke down the line-up in that super thick Chicago accent made me laugh. "Bad Religion? Seen 'em enough. All good there. Sunny Day Real Estate? Too sad. Alkaline Trio? Satanic pop-punk. Sign me up. Rocket from the Crypt? Holy crap, might have to buy me a ticket so that band can get paid."

I’ve always sort of pegged next week as the week when we’d get the schedule, though I would not be complaining if I was wrong and it came out before that.

I’m telling you they are doing it Warped style this year, MCR playing 11:55 Friday morning.

30 minute set. All songs from 2005 or earlier. The Transplants will play after and Atreyu will play before them. The Offspring are scheduled but won't actually show up because Dexter's plane ran out of gas.

Street Dogs will play to the remaining 100 people left at 9:05 PM in the parking lot

NOTE: This is not a slight to Street Dogs, I just picked a smaller band off the top of my head from that era

    Give what you can.

I'm wearing my Kinane "big dick bat" shirt today and can't wait to listen to this. Love when the Motman stops by.

Actually, at the MA date of the 2005 tour it was Big D and the Kids Table and Bane who had that slot. So... Not too far off.

2005 warped tour is probably one of the best top to bottom lineups ever assembled. In 2011 Street dogs played before Go Radio on the side by side stages and only had about 50 people but the stage next door was full of people waiting so they just kept invading that stage.

My friends and I are flying out for this plus some other stuff from the UK. Got a fay beforehand and a few days after the festival before we move on.

We have two vegans in the group, where are the best places to eat that will cater to them?

    What are the best bars/clubs?

And what are the unmissable things to see in Chicago?

We’re staying a bit far out (Oak Park) but travelling into the city is something we intend to do basically every day anyway.

Oak Park is not too bad as far as getting to the park. There are some cool places there if you guys want to sit somewhere closer to where you are staying.

The Chicago Diner is a great vegetarian restaurant with tons of vegan options. It's in Boys Town if I'm not mistaken.

  15. Chicago Diner in Logan Square and Handlebar in Wicker Park are great vegetarian/vegan spots.

I'm visiting from out of state. Me and my friends are spending two extra days in town. I recommend getting the city pass for Chicago. That's what were gonna do for a day. It comes with the art museum. The science museum. The aquarium and the skydeck. Definitely kill a day doing all the tourist stuff with that.

Nothing to do with food... It's pretty touristy & somewhat gimmicky I guess, but the Riverboat Architecture Tour is a really cool way to see & learn about the city. Things like that are 50/50, but I thoroughly enjoyed it & would do it again

I have done the boat architecture tour a few teams and always enjoy it. While the route is generally the same, they will sometimes mix the order up and each tour is a little unique bc each guide puts their own spin on things or will mention different buildings. We always recommend that and Shedd as the tourist options.

Edit: we usually use the company Wendella. It’s over by the Wrigley building and along the river.

As someone who has lived here for about 12 years, this is always a must when people come visit for the first time. I've done it a handful of times and never get sick of it. Always a crowd pleaser.

I live 3 miles from Manhattan and can't think of a cool equivalent to it here when people visit, it's so unique & fun

Lincoln Park zoo is a good free option for tourists. It’s a good zoo for being free. I usually donate but it’s not required.

Can definitely vouch for Chicago Diner and Handlebar! My partner and I visited both of those spots last year and it was amazing! There's another, fancier vegan restaurant we got breakfast one day that was like inside of a department store... Super good but a bit pricey.

Seconding the Lincoln Park Zoo too. It's a fun way to spend the afternoon with some impressive, modern exhibits and a decent array of species. It's much smaller, but the quality of many of the exhibits is right up there with the Bronx Zoo, IMHO. I always look forward to it.

Very happy to hear positive thoughts on the boat tour! Hoping to squeeze it in day I fly in or out. Born and raised in Phx so being on a boat sounds fun and Chicago has beautiful buildings! So excited for this trip after following Riot thread's for years. Thanks for everyone about the pink line tips as well.
