That is definitely part of their fan base.

I know a lot of you said this about the last album - and I disagreed - but this might honestly be one of the most boring National songs to me and I do not like that chorus. I could just be in a mood, and I’m still super excited for new music from them, but still..

better than anything on the last album but still pretty standard. if you told me to guess what a national/bon iver collab would sound like i would come up with this song in about 10 minutes

  5. Yeah this is also underwhelming me on first listen but I'm excited to have new music from them and would guess this will probably grow on me.

Underwhelmed upon first listen. It’s a good mellow track from them, but I think I just wanted something a little more.

a lot of people will say that this is "boring like their last album."

it's actually much more boring than that. the arrangements on the last record are less predictable than this and the female vocals add a lot. this is just uninspired mumbling over garage band.

Very cool 90s/2000s vibe created with that looping drum beat. Some of the other elements give me chill U2, adult pop artist vibes but just now, focusing on that beat I got a mental image of the music video for Primitive Love God’s Standing Outsid a Broken Phone Booth…. I love this for the National. Also the repetitive loop echoes the meaning behind the lyrics. Vibes. Solid. The disgruntled High Violet stans will come around.

I thought this song was pretty damn good.

Needed either real drums or a less generic beat. Felt a bit lifeless to me.

It's...fine. Very repetitive and doesn't really go anywhere. The drum loops definitely hurt it.

Loved this. I'm excited to hear what else they have up their sleeve. Bryce said in an interview that they've been recording a bunch of guitars during soundcheck on this tour because they want them loud.

I like it, though I wish it had more bite / transitioned to something louder

I could see this song changing if it’s going on the album.

The song is growing on me but I still am hoping something a little more interesting from the rest of the album (which must be there based on Drew’s earlier comment):fingerscrossed:

  20. I will say that Ice Machines and Tropic Morning News absolutely smoke this. the latter really needs to be the album announce single, dammit.

Late to this discussion, but So Far So Fast is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. It literally hurts my heart to listen to it lol
