The non-singles are much better than what's been released.

I enjoyed this, definitely got better as the record went on. The vocal strain complaints are fair but I also like how this sounds a bit more breezy/laid back than previous ones.

I don't know - this isn't that bad? They've never put out an album I liked in full, and this has a couple clunkers, but I kind of am enjoying it more than their other albums.

PFTW kind of felt like a more pop friendly version of DOAB, and the title track of this (while great) led me to kind of think it was going to follow that formula, so I'm happy this was a much bigger switch up than I was initially anticipating.

So far I'm digging the hell out of this. Looks like this will be a polarizing release, but I really like it.

Listened to the singles and Sad Clown…no thanks. The lagger’s vocal performance was exhausting and Gleecore is fitting.

This is actually pretty good imo, it improves immediately after the singles

This has been a mostly unpleasant listen for me.
Parts of songs I find enjoyable but then it just gets grating. Ah well. This one just isn’t for me!

Also covering Bohemian Rhapsody on stage for almost a decade has obviously influenced Brendon as "God Killed Rock And Roll" is a legit tribute to that.

I’m looking forward to listening to this today. Panic! was my favorite band for like a decade, but I’ve fallen off with them a bit with the decline in quality. I still believe Vices is their peak, and it remains one of my favorite albums ever (those bonus tracks, y’all), so it’s tough knowing he’ll probably never go back to that eclectic and more subdued sound. I think my issues with modern Panic! come from Brendon just not using his lower register more - give me a chorus without yelling at me. I think he’s straining so much that it’s not as enjoyable.

Doing a discog run this morning and I was just thinking about how good those bonus tracks are and how much I wish they were all on streaming

It’s criminal that they haven’t put them out. I get that they did a weird thing with exclusives at the time, but why not have a deluxe edition with all the b-sides from the era and make some $$$? Incredible cuts from that timeframe after the split

I hated that era when everyone split the b-sides across multiple releases. So annoying and so many good songs lost. But ya I'd love if they all made their way out there one day.

yeah… you had to get Kaleidoscope Eyes through Hot Topic and Turn Off the Lights with the Japanese version. I’m glad we’re past that trend. I wish they’d been part of the full album and gotten the recognition they deserve. Funnily enough, there are places where most would fit right in on in the tracklist and go with the album theme.

Oh Glory was a really good b-side and should have made it on V&V like quite a few of them.

Kaleidoscope Eyes and Bittersweet are too good to be just exclusive bonus tracks

I really like this, had the potential to be my favorite Panic album. I’m surprised how much people seem to hate MOAB, I love the verses and the chorus is super catchy.

AllMusic gave Viva 4.5 stars (out of 5). I might be one of the few people that still regularly checks out their reviews for a quick take on albums. But FWIW:

    “Viva Las Vengeance is
Urie's amorous declaration to everything sumptuously mythic, exultant, tragic, and yes, even silly about loving and aspiring to be a part of the rock'n'roll world. That Urie is completely self-aware about his place in that world makes Viva Las Vengeance all the more delicious.”

My initial reaction is that I like this significantly less than I was expecting based on the singles. There’s a lot of cool ideas but none of the new stuff grabbed me right away. Last 2 songs were probably my favorite of the ones that dropped today. Also for some reason the chorus of All By Yourself is giving me White Album Weezer vibes.

Title track is going to go down as a top 5 Panic song for me, though

“Don’t let the light go out” would be a perfect song for me if he just showed some restraint in that chorus.

The "Into the Unknown" nod on "Sad Clown" is really fun.
