You could play HOURS in Elden Ring before ever meeting the first boss.

 

I don't have #s in front of me but I think I saw that the percentage of people beating Elden Ring after purchase is much higher than other FromSoft games based on trophy/achievement data, could be wrong

 

That at least makes sense, but I seem to remember the a crazy high amount of people in DS1 never made it past the first 30 min or so

 

I have been enjoying Multiversus to the point where I am tempted to finally check out Super Smash for the Switch. I haven't played a Smash game in well over a decade, and until now was not interested in playing the newest one because not only do I have bad memories associated with the series (just in the sense that I was often forced to play with friends in college who had made a serious hobby of it and were so good that playing against them was literally the antithesis of fun), but because I've been worried about playing it online considering Nintendo's reputation in that department. I think I'm finally ready to give the Smash series another go, but my concerns about online performance remain. So..how is it?

it took me until Scholar of the First Sin to get back into Dark Souls after getting burnt out on playing the ever loving fuck out of Demon's Souls, so I never really gave DS1 the time of the day it probably deserved. Now I just don't care enough to go back.

 

I dabbled just a bit in 7th-8th grade when my friends would play at a sleepover. I have Ultimate and it’s a ton of fun. Never play online but the bots and campaign are fun to play and occasionally when my friends come over we play and none of us are good so it’s always fun.

There are also multiple articles of people stating that they felt more confident going back to Dark Souls, etc after playing Elden Ring because of how far more forgiving it is and gives you time to learn the skills needed to be successful.

 

DS1 is great

 

DS isn’t my personal favourite of their games, but it is damn near perfect

I think it's the combination of ease and good QOL. I think there are games in the series I found or am finding easier but they aren't as convenient to play as Elden Ring, but Elden Ring does a good job with ease of difficulty AND making you still want to play it by not making things feel too tedious.

I honestly love the battle system which I wasn't expecting since I could never figure it out in XC2. I haven't auto-battled once yet
