Riot Fest 2022 (September 16-18, Chicago IL) Festival • Page 182

  1. You Are OK is the only album of theirs I love, but I really love it. Lovely Little Lonely and XOXO are solid too, but not quite as consistent for me. I haven't spent much time with anything before those.

Lovely Little Lonely is one of my favorite records as a cohesive piece start to finish in more than a decade. Personally i’d start there

I didnt like The Maine until Lovely Little Loney, so as previous comments say, that is a good starting point!

I'd go with Lovely Little Lonely personally. The most balanced album of theirs and also the one they're most likely to play the most from besides their newest

But Pioneer doesn't get enough love, that's when they really sold me and laid the foundation for what they've done since.

I've seen The Maine probably 25 times in the last 15 years, I love all of their albums but definitely agree to start with American Candy and then listen in order chronologically ending with XOXO. All of their albums are very good but sonically pretty different. I think American Candy & Lovely Little Lonely are the most similar in style, & LLL is without a doubt their most popular album

Thanks everyone! I will start with LLL and AC. For whatever reason I chose other bands over The Maine when they came out and I never went back to them. Appreciate the help.

Well this lineup is absolutely loaded, dear lord. Never done an international fest let alone one at a resort, so can’t help but picture fire fest, lol but this legit on the ‘seriously looking into it’ list

Lovely Little Lonely is their best record and one of my all-time favorites. That and the new record are your best bets.

Me in here until they announce the schedule: SO WHEN DO YOU THINK THEY'LL ANNOUNCE THE SCHEDULE? LAST YEAR IT WAS ANNOUNCED THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER, BUT TWO YEARS AGO IT WAS MID-AUGUST, BUT THE YEAR BEFORE THAT WAS THE WHOLE LINEUP FIASCO WITH BLINK 182 DROPPING AND WEEZER AND RUN THE JEWELS HAVING TO REPLACE THEM AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE BECAUSE THEY WERE WITHOUT A HEADLINER. IT WAS RUMORED THAT BAUHAUS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE HEADLINER BUT I GUESS IT FELL THROUGH OR SOMETHING. STILL THOUGH I THINK WE SHOULD GET IT NEXT WEEK AND IF NOT, AT THE LATEST, THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER

I know the focus is on the schedule, but I am also hoping we get the map soon. I am interested in whether they are going to keep the layout that they had last year. I feel like it helped with some of the congestion for the main stages, so I hope that they do.

Here is my current top 10 (not in a particular order) for each day. I feel like it changes by the day depending on who I am listening to at any given moment.

Saturday: Misfits, Yellowcard, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Menzingers, The Get Up Kids, War On Women, Bridge City Sinners, 7 Seconds, Madball, Surfbort

Sunday: Sleater-Kinney, Jimmy Eat World, The Academy Is, Lunachicks, Midtown, The Linda Lindas, Less Than Jake, The Bombpops, Jawbox,Nine Inch Nails

I was looking at this today! Solid line-up and not a terrible price for what it is, but it's just not quite there for me. I'd need a stronger undercard and once you get below the Bronx there's pretty much nothing I'm interested in except for Thick who I'll be seeing at Riot hopefully.

The comedy line-up is pretty neat, though. Eddie Peptone, JT Habersaat, Natalie Cuomo, and Joe Sib are all delightful.

I'm definitely here for this kinda energy!

This is a wish I am stealing from the subreddit, which I know usually doesn’t have great ideas, but hear me out…

Kel Mitchell is from Chicago. Both Coolio and Less Than Jake are playing the festival this year. Kel Mitchell coming out for the Keenan and Kel theme song during Coolio and then coming out during Less Than Jake for We’re All Dudes? Sounds like a great idea!

I could happen, Chicago native Michael Angelo Batio came out during the Pumpkins closer last year and melted everyone’s faces off.

Think I’m flying out to this alone. Anybody have any recommendations on places to stay/ food I gotta try?
