Damn, that was perfect.

 

loved this except for the BETTER CALL SAUL chantalong on the prison bus, that felt like it came from a much worse show

the courtroom scene was an all-timer and maybe Bob's best work on either show. got chills when the judge told him to sit down and he said his name was Jimmy McGill. loved how it played as the inverse of his courtroom monologue from 4x10; there you think he's sincere and the rug-pull is he was faking the whole thing, here was the other way around

the Chuck flashback was perfect and really hammered home how far Jimmy fell

 

Jeffy being left in the police station is gonna be the new Huell in the safehouse huh

 

Yeah that scene was.... Weird

 

It's been a heck of a ride. What a treat it's been these past 14 years. I'm gonna miss this world and its characters. Couldn't be happier though.

 

We've got out sequel series in a few years time, but played by another different actor.

 

Alright… decided I should just watch it today



Jaw dropping seeing Marie… even thought it was a black and white scene you know she was wearing purple. Seriously, one of the last BB characters I expected to see in the finale.


What a fucking scene though. Loved his mouth movement at the end of it. Gotcha.

Him baking the bread in prison looking like it was at the Cinnabon was something.


The tip of the cig being in color was… interesting.

 

Anyone else going to watch Breaking Bad starting with the BCS episode?

I've still got to catch up on Walking Dead :///// (and then I'm curious about the Terry Crews / Olivia Munn one). They got me right now.

Echo chamber here but man, "what a show". Amazing flashbacks. Brian Cranston being an absolute legend. Seeing Marie was a shocker. Getting Bill back was awesome. I didn't realize that cigarette was in color until reading it here and now my mind is blown after the fact. Wild how Jimmy screwed himself back into life sentence just to get some approval/understanding back from Kim(and brag a bit. maybe maybe some self acceptance and post humus approval from his brother?). He could have done that after his 7 years was up, but maybe he thought he wouldn't make it 7 years and/or too much time would have passed. Sad to think about Jimmy not getting the finger guns back is the last thing he'll see of Kim. Her look at the end was at least "not of disgust" toward Jimmy.

The final courtroom shot with Kim in the crosshairs was absolutely brilliant. I love that Peter Gould touches on that in this interview.

 

I did say I wanted Kim to see him and call him Jimmy in the finale. Really can't think of a better way to end it. About as happy an ending as was realistically possible I'd say. I couldn't think of a way they'd get Kim into the end but it was perfectly done.

 

Thanks for posting this. He articulates the way to describe the finale in a way that I've been trying to think of. People have asked me how it was (who haven't seen it) and I tried to describe it in a non-spoilery way, like "It just felt....right" "Optimistic" isn't the right word for the reasons he describes lol.

 

The cut to the buzzing exit sign when Jimmy mentioned Chuck in the courtroom really got me.

 

This show is such a gift

 

I can't really describe how these last few episodes in the Gene world made me feel. It made me as the viewer feel melancholy and lonely. lol. Like, so far removed from the glory days of Jimmy driving his shitty yellow car around town without a care in the world. Credit to the writers/directors/producers for being able to manipulate my psyche like this.

This! I was talking to a buddy last night before we watched about how effective the black and white actually ended up becoming. I love how we got one episode each season through that lens and it all built to this in the final half of season six. I've seen plenty of black and white movies/scenes/etc. but being immersed in it as the characters have changed (predominantly Jimmy) really ended up adding a special bit of grimness to it all. It became very effective over time. Yesterday afternoon I put on a random episode back in season 4 and was honestly shocked by how bright and vibrant it really seemed in comparison. It all fits perfectly as it carries on - the eroding opening vhs tracking over the title and the colors (or lack thereof).

 

He did’t because he knew that’s only for avoiding zombies.

 

The only part I didn't like was the chant on the bus. I know it was supposed to give a little bit of hope that at least prison wasn't going to be torture or he wasn't going to get killed there, but it came across as more corny than anything else. Pretty much my only complaint. I wish a different scene or metaphor had been chosen then. It really took me out and made me want to say 'they said the thing!'.

 

The bus scene was odd and I honestly thought that it was going to zoom out and come back and it was all in Jimmy's head or something. Was very surprised when it was nothing more than literally everyone chanting and stomping after they recognized him.
