I would do many things to see +44 come back and play shows.

I don’t think I could choose between BCR or +44. Both those albums are so great.

+44 shows were awesome. Travis playing drums with one hand was a sight.

The only real tour +44 did (at least in my state) was the one supporting Fall Out Boy. I remember passing on going because I wasn’t a fan of FOBs newest album and didn’t wanna spend ALL that money just for +44…..that ticket was only $40….and they never toured again. Still regret that decision 15 years later lol

I saw this tour! It was the Honda Civic Tour, and The Academy Is was also on it supporting Santi. I believe Cobra Starship was also on it, as well. It was awesome for me, but I remember even back then thinking FOB was just bad live.

That +44 album brings back so many good memories despite being a pretty dark album. I was a junior in high school, and that winter had a ton of ice storms that caused us to miss school for like three weeks total. We all just hung out and had fun day after day, and that album was pretty much my soundtrack at the time. It takes me right back every time I hear it.

Alright after a playthrough of all the Blink 182 side projects

AVA - Probably not objectively the best but Whisper and I Empire meant so much to me when they came out. In the documentary, David said, "This music is U2 for kids that haven't had a chance to hear music like this yet." I felt that 100% and their return show pre covid brought all those memories back.

Boxcar inches out +44 for me. So creative and it gave way for Untitled. It holds up so well. It is dynamic and the front-to-back playthrough is so good.

+44 ranking in the mid-range only because it is a seasonal mood album for me. If it were February it may rank higher. (Lillian may be my favorite Mark bridge of all time) It bums me out we never got a second album to fully realize this band's potential. I have no doubt it would have been incredible.

Transplants, so creative, It is wild that this band even exists.

Simple Creatures- NINE cowrites looking for some pop radio love but better.

It is unreal how much amazing music we have gotten from Mark, Tom, and Travis. This doesn't include the records they produced and were HEAVILY involved with.

I listened to Boxcar Racer the other day for the first time in forever and it’s such an interesting album. On one hand I think it’s in some ways a better “the one where they tried” than blink s/t. It has none of the cheese that album has and so much of it feels like the prototype for stuff like Down. (but kind of better?)

On the other hand, and what keeps it more like a 7.5 than a classic is that some of it is so disjointed and some of it so lazy. Some of the lowest effort Tom Delonge instrumental breaks of all time are on this thing. And my first punk song is one of the worst things he ever recorded haha.

Anyways, I went into it misremembering it as kind of embarrassingly trying to be moody, and I was pleasantly surprised to feel like it really isn’t that at all. Tonally speaking it feels pretty authentic and not an attempt to be something that Tom wasn’t. The songwriting just varies a lot in quality. Overall I think it’s very solid.

Gonna revisit +44 this week but I remember thinking it was absolute ass outside of baby come on.

Don’t get me wrong, my first punk song sucks ass. But it’s embarrassing in a completely different way than the Stockholm syndrome intro is, for example.

I don’t think i’ve ever seen a single person say the intro to Stockholm is embarrassing until this very moment.

  17. I’ve literally never seen that album or anything on it even called cheesy, and I’ve read probably every other opinion about it in the world over the years.

  18. I could see someone thinking the intro is boring, I guess, but embarrassing is a strange adjective to use for it. I'd say at least half of Tom's lyrical output in Blink/AVA is "embarrassing" but not the intro to "Stockholm Syndrome." Especially since it's personal to Mark, and not just some random poetic intro or whatever.

Personally I think the intro is very sweet and it feels wrong to listen to Stockholm Syndrome without it.
