Isn't he too young to run anyways?

 

Yeah, I only want desantis to run if trump is actually running. Something needs to break up the coalition of crazies that support trump. I don't see a democratic candidate being able to do that really.

I wouldn’t vote for either but if one runs as the republican candidate and one as a third party candidate it could split the conservative vote.

 

Oh, I would never vote for desantis - he's as horrible as trump, if not moreso, because it think he's a little smarter. I don't want it to come off like I'm saying the guy should be president - I just want someone with a little popularity to run against trump and fuck his shit up a little bit. He looks like he could be useful to me in splitting up the conservative vote.

As more time goes by, trump's hold seems like it's getting stronger and stronger. I can't believe years later theres still so many people who will just parrot the crazy lies he spews out on a daily basis.

Hard to imagine DeSantis continuing to run if he loses the GOP nomination, but all bets are off for the Trump camp haha

I think what we're seeing is his base getting entrenched, but not necessarily growing.

It's by design that we tend to be under the impression that people who are sick of Trump aren't a substantial bloc among regular conservative voters, but I don't know that it's very true. The midterm is officially a Trump referendum at this point, so we'll at least have a good idea of where things are trending in the party with enough time before '24.

 

Each and every time something happens it is so far beyond what I thought people would accept and put up with and they love it and just keep running with it. The Confederate flag actually making it inside our capitol?!?? This dude keeping nuclear secrets at a tacky ass golf course in Florida to sell to the Saudis???

 

As much as it hurts to say this, think I would take Trump again over DeSantis. Just so we are clear I want neither but looking at all the authoritarian shit that DeSantis has pulled in Florida and how he has consolidated power for the Governorship in that state is fucking wild.

I feel like Trump is more "charismatic" to his followers, but DeSantis is far more serious, and I can't decide which is more dangerous.

This is all my opinion but I feel like Trump's nutter base is pretty stagnant numbers wise (could be wrong here), I think DeSantis can appeal to not only those people but also a slew of Republicans that are more turned off by Trump's antics. DeSantis gives you less Trump antics and more culture war/authoritarian bullshit.
