both of these kinda sound like garbage and are far from my favorites/i havent listened to either in years. guess ill go with TAYF bc the nostalgia attached to it. i look forward to clarity crushing either of these next round.

TAYF. I have nothing against TGG, but I honestly can’t believe it won its year.

 

My hottest take in the emo/pop-punk sphere is that Taking Back Sunday are largely unlistenable and Tell All Your Friends is not an exception. My mileage tends to vary on The Wonder Years depending on the album, but The Greatest Generation is their apex and is an album that meant a lot to me at a particular moment in time. TGG, easily.

 

Tell All Your Friends really isn't that good at all. The Greatest Generation is one of the genres best.

 

Tell All Your Friends still sounds raw, vital, and passionate and every song but "The Blue Channel" is a killer. TGG is a solid career record from a good band who's capable of more. Very easily TBS for me.

 

TAYF is an incredible album that still holds up. TGG is good but i find suburbia way better. Easy pick.

This one is a toss up for me. I love both albums. Ultimately, I went with TGG.

Yeah, despite its "classic" status I've always struggled with TAYF. The Greatest Generation is my favorite from The Wonder Years so its getting my vote.

 

Went with TAYF even though I love TGG and TWY. Had to remind myself I love TAYF and not let seeing them recently be absolutely dog shit live taint that haha

 

Pretty easily TGG for me. TAYF is fun and all but TGG felt special to me. It's also the first album that came out after I got super into them (I was a casual fan between Upsides and Suburbia but I wasn't like counting down to the release of Suburbia). Seeing them at 10 am at the Bottom Lounge, then having TGG Tour introduce me to Modern Baseball and Citizen. All around great memories for this album cycle and it's down to this or Suburbia for my favorite TWY album.

i agree with the take but would also say it extends to TWY as well, for me. and they have gotten worse with each album since suburbia
