Yeah man, this is the best. And I feel bad for my wife because he does it way more with me than her. He's 9 months old now and he definitely knows the roles of mom and dad. When he wants food or is hurt cause he fell or whatever, he'll go to mom. But when he wants to play and laugh, or if he's not feeling good, he'll go to dad.

 

:) I know that feeling. My kid's a daddy's boy as well. I do feel bad for my wife sometimes because she can get a little frustrated, but oh man do I love how much he loves me.

Ours is 13 months now, and he does it both of us when we get home. But he has gotten to the point where he'll fall asleep with me at bedtime in about 15-20 minutes, and about 45-60 with her. She.....is frustrated about it. Naptimes are the same haha

The other day I had this book in spanish about a dog. I was sitting on kitchen floor with him on my lap and I'd read a page in my awful attempt at Spanish and he'd get FLOORED and run around the dining room laughing, then come back for another page.

It's amazing. Like truly amazing how each day is a new adventure haha

 

My wife doesn't work so is always with him so obviously he's gonna be excited to see daddy when he sees momma constantly. Also to what others have said he's definitely a daddy's boy when it comes to playing and his goofy personality but if he's hurt he wants momma. When he's tired he doesn't care haha

 

When my little man was younger (6-10 months), we had a Sign Language Baby Einstein movie that he LOVED. He would watch it maybe once or twice a day because it was his favorite. I regret it now because, at 2, he replies to everything in sign language and almost refuses to learn to speak. We had to set him up for early intervention speech classes (starting soon). He can differentiate things and knows the difference between words but he just seems to have no desire to speak. He knows doggy, ball, milk and yea. I'm ready to hear his voice and conversate and talk to him and have him talk back. Speech has been the only setback (that feels like the wrong word to use) he's had but we work on it as much as we can without overloading him. I only bring this up because it's only a matter of time until your son gets over his hurdle. Best of luck to your family, man.

 

Our nephew was the same way, did a lot of sign language. They did the speech class and everything. Ended up being some sort of ear infection - not sure if that's something to look into as well.

He's 4 now and won't shut up.

 

My son turned 2 today. Holy shit time is flying.

 

Seriously! Mine turns 1 two weeks from today!

 

Mine turns one in a month. I definitely understand this feeling as well. He finally started to crawl last week though! The physical therapy sessions are really paying off. They said it might take him longer to learn to walk as well, but at least there is progress. Yesterday I came home from a very long day of work and he was sitting by the kitchen doorway. As soon as I opened the front door, he turned and saw me, immediately rolled on to all fours and crawled to me excitedly. Oh god I can't handle it.

 

Haha, it's the best. Mine just turned 10 months today. He is a crawling mad man so I get on my hands and needs and crawl super fast around the house and he'll just chase me laughing. I love it, because if my wife does it, he just stares at her. So I feel like he genuinely likes to play with just me, which is so much fun. He also does this thing where if you're holding him, and walk towards to back door to go into our backyard, and you start unlocking the door, he gets so excited his little arms go up and down and he kicks like crazy. He loves to go out there for whatever reason, but it's great.

 

Can we talk kids?

3 daughters - age 18 freshman in college, age 16 junior in HS, and age 13 in middle school.

 

That's what this thread is for! Sounds like yours are quite a bit older than most of ours

 

Health issues:

Daughter 1 - 18. avoids nuts
Daughter 3 - Celiac - avoids gluten - age 13
Daughter 2 - Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac (avoids gluten), and multiple food allergies (milk, egg, nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc...) - Age 16. Very healthy though. No McDs for her, no fast food... mostly fruits/veggies, etc :) Doing just fine :) Uses a T Slim Insulin pump.

 

My daughter started this gymnastics class for toddlers last week, every Thursday morning for 40 minutes. Just so she gets to run around with other kids and stuff, it's so cute.

 

I think my oldest one gid a class like that. its fun to see them get some exercise!

 

Duder turns 1 on Thursday. Here's to hoping what the wife and I call "Meltdown Central" goes away during diaper changes soon!

Not yet, if he's holding onto something, say the couch, and lets go, he stands there on his own for a long time, and he's taken about two steps and just falls over. He has a toy that he walks around with a lot so maybe that'll help.

 

Oh yeah sounds like he's getting close not too much longer! Just wait, he'll be into more stuff than he already is!
