im contributing to it, but it'll be a bummer when robert johnson gets blown out. one of the GOATs. his actual career compilation is better than this imo.

Don't think I've heard the Robert Johnson album. Looks like I've got a busy afternoon of catching up.

think you'll like it a lot though i guess i don't know your mileage for delta blues. it's incredible guitar work, if nothing else, and basically every 60s act has covered one or two songs off this.

Robert Johnson for sure. Love Mellon Collie but we’re talking possibly the single most consequential album release to the entire latter half of the 20th century. Johnson is absolute bedrock.

I love and am fascinated by the blues music from the 20s and 30s, just as a document of history, it's pretty magical hearing music recorded and sung from nearly a hundred years ago - similar to watching old silent films, I find it captivating simply because of it's age. Specifically with the blues, the musicians from this time period frequently seem to have lived (possibly apocryphally) wild lives, which makes the songs even better.

if you have Criterion Channel, The Blues Accordin’ to Lightnin’ Hopkins is A+. different time period obviously but a good look at the same genre/the people involved in it.

Imagine being the kind of person who WANTS to pick holes in a story as cool as Johnson meeting the Devil at the crossroads to get his guitar skills. What’s life without a little myth.

My correct opinion is that Mellon Collie is the best Pumpkins album.
My terrible (but truthfully held) opinion is that Siamese Dream when taken as a whole gets a little... boring (ducks)

I love most of the tracks off Siamese Dream, I just have a tough time getting through it all in one listen. My issue. I can sit through the entirety of Mellon Collie much easier.
