i never made that leap. i said "less upset", a pretty decent paraphrase of "not as outraged." it also for some reason makes you feel better that she was 3 weeks past the legal abortion date in Nebraska prior to roe being overturned? why exactly?

So they were ordered in March, when the child was 15-19 months pregnant. That's when the decision was made and sure I suppose you could assume the 17 year old purposely used pills from the internet instead of getting a legal medical procedure because they're a bad person, but it sure seems more likely to me that they were terrified of the social death they faced for that decision or were ignorant of the exact laws or were pressured by an unprofessional medical practitioner.

 

nuance in this situation is politically counterproductive. those who win in this country don't use nuance they use polemics and propaganda. hemming and hawing helps one side

 

With stuff like this and sex work and decriminalization of drugs just generally sometimes you have to kind of ignore your gut saying what's moral

This is frustrating, but also unfortunately absolutely correct.

I tend to see things on a case by case basis, and I feel like that's how things should work in general, but I also understand that a lot of people see in broad strokes and to drive a larger point home, there's no wiggle room to maneuver, because opponents will equally grab that as an opportunity.

 

No, you're good. I also need to rein myself in a little, as I'm having to readjust my position on the fly, and that just tells me I didn't do enough research before opening my mouth.

For example, I didn't know that part about the pills and when they were purchased. And I'm sure there's a number of other factors we don't know about this situation and how it got to this point.

I think we all agree on the general thrust that this country is fucked and making it harder or impossible for people to make important life-altering decisions that the government has no business in.

I said we were arguing over a tree, but really I shouldn't have brought up the tree to begin with. That's on me.

 

On the Facebook side of things, apparently they're claiming nothing in the police request they received mentioned abortion and for all they knew, it was the investigation of a burned and buried baby.

I could honestly see that either way. I mean, corporations are liars, but so are the police.

Broccoli Cheddar in a Bread Bowl!

 

My answer is still broccoli cheddar, but the Jewish part of me is dying for a bit of the matz.

 

Now I want soup.

 

From 2003 to 2012 I ate the exact same lunch everyday, turkey chili in a bowl made out of bread. You'd eat the chili then you'd eat the bowl. Nothing more satisfying than looking down after lunch and seeing just a table.
