  1. It's actually not a bad school despite being relatively easy to get into. It's like the backup school for everyone at my high school who couldn't get into a UC, but I loved it there.

Grab an early dinner in downtown Pasadena at one of the many fine establishments, then take a shuttle or Uber to the show!

Ummm off the top of my head I can't remember, there's a BJ's and stuff like that, there's a GPS sushi spot too, haha I'm useless, my girlfriend knows Pasadena better than I.

If you like beer, Stone has a spot there and there's Congregation Ale House

Yeah most lots you're good, I'd do a little internet research to plan which lot specifically you want

  6. Went to a show at the Regent Theater last night. Sketchy area, but we didn't run into any trouble. Venue was ok. Someone in this thread mentioned the downward slope of the floor towards the stage. It was weird at first, but I got used to it. Sound was good. Beers were $7-$8. I'm seeing Bayside there next month, so I'm gonna try to get there early for a balcony spot. Nothing better at a concert than being able to lean on a handrail ha.

  7. Long shot, but my band is looking for a bass player - if anyone in LA wants to play some pop rock (we meet a couple of times a week, our new practice space is in West LA) shoot me a message. We're about to put out an EP and are currently playing acoustic sets as a trio but still need a live bass player.

Your bandmates would all be queer girls in their 20's, if that matters. Otherwise, carry on!

Might be going to three shows at the Teragram Ballroom this fall. I already have tickets for Caspian, but I'm seriously interested in the Russian Circles and This Will Destroy You shows. Pictures of the place look great

I gotta give that place a second chance, was not a fan at all the first time around

  10. I hate covering shows at that venue for reasons that are 100% parking related. Unless you luck out with street parking (best of luck) there are almost zero lots that don't cost at least $20 on show nights.

Totally agree, parking situation is extremely horrible. I'm going in a month or so for Anthony Green and am going to test my chances with the metro.... I'll report back

I took the metro to Teragram to see Enter Shikari a few months back. I thought the venue was great. The walk from the 7th St Metro Station wasn't too bad and honestly there were enough people walking around that I felt safe enough. It took me maybe 10-15 minutes? It was probably around 7pm too.

But I definitely took a Lyft home after the show instead of walking back in that direction at like midnight.

Smart move. I took the metro back from a show at the Mayan or something, and the stop itself right next to Staples Center was really sketchy. Once I got on the train it was fine, but the stop was certainly a bit much

Yeah I have no problem when I'm on the actual train butttt the walk and waiting is what always sketches me out (especially as a small person who often has a bag). Even still I thought walking there was no biggie at all.

Damn that sucks about the parking because I'll be coming up from the OC.

Just go in knowing you will spend $20 on parking and they will double/triple park your car

  18. Has anyone been to the Novo? I'm going to see Yellowcard there. Anything I should know about the place?

I'll be at that show also. The Novo is what used to be called Nokia Theater. It's... fine, kinda sucks honestly. If you want front section (pit) you have to get there extremely early, and it's hard to see from most anywhere else downstairs due to huge pillars being in the way. I've never been unstairs, but I feel like that'd be the best place tbh

All part of the commute haha no way I'd miss these shows though.

Anyone know what the parking situation is like for the Hollywood Bowl? Do they have their own lot or are you left to find street parking?

I'm thinking about rolling solo to the Bloc Party show there on Sunday.

beware of stack parking.. their lots are expensive and will take you AGES to get out of. I usually Lyft or do one of the cheaper non-stack lots that are walking distance.

Don't do it. Take a shuttle.

Oh wow good thing I asked haha. Now I'm thinking I might just drive to around the Runyon area and uber/lyft the rest of the way.

  25. DerekIsAGooner

    So assuming that this weekend...

Definitely take the shuttle. It's $15 a person, and it gets you in and out of the bowl faster than driving without any of the stress. My wife and I did it for one of the John Williams performances, and it was fantastic. I'm not sure where all they leave from, but I took the one from the Culver City metro stop.
