    Washington Post:

“It’s the biggest debacle I’ve ever seen in the vinyl realm,” says Kevin Gray, a mastering engineer who has not worked with MoFi but has produced reissues of musicians such as John Coltrane and Marvin Gaye.

“They were completely deceitful,” says Richard Drutman, 50, a New York City filmmaker who has purchased more than 50 of MoFi’s albums over the years. “I never would have ordered a single Mobile Fidelity product if I had known it was sourced from a digital master.”

I read this whole article, and I don't even buy records, but I was enthralled by this story. What an adventure.

This is going to destroy those people who say analog is so much better and point to MoFi as a reason. Some all time "analog" releases from them are considered best sounding, and it was digital all along. Really hilights how far that process has come.

I have been following this for a couple weeks now. Sucks for the people who bought into the MoFi brand. I prefer just buying records from bands directly and crate digging for the classics.

I wonder if any other manufacturers have been sweating the last few weeks too lol

Let's get these people moving faster!

I also suspect there are a lot of people who say "analog is better" simply because of the vinyl medium and aren't familiar with the production process that distinguishes some releases from others. I'll admit I'm well past 300 records in my collection and learned a lot from that article - although I'm also not someone who ever said "analog sounds better".
