if it were one of a few other REM albums, i'd be picking them, but as it stands, it's Futures

For me, I actually do not really like Jimmy Eat World (caveat that I haven't listened to anything since like 2016) and REM is a top 10 artist for me, so I know I'm going to be offending this board with this but: no Jimmy Eat World album is better than any REM album.

I haven't listened to Murmur in full but I love REM so I am interested to see which one I end up liking more.
And I politely disagree that REM is overrated.

 

It’s Futures. Love Murmur, but Futures is a top 3 of all time for me, and Murmur might not be in my top 5 R.E.M. albums.

I never could get into REM

 

Murmur all day. May not be my #1 from them but still an incredible debut record front to back. A no-skipper for me. I know it'll get obliterated in this round though.

JEW has always been good but they aren't really near and dear to me in the same way REM is. I only like about half of Futures.

 

I love Futures but Murmur no questions

My favorite Jimmy album vs. not my favorite R.E.M. album. I'm with @phaynes12 . Another R.E.M. record might take it, but here, it's Futures.

 

Yeah if it was Life’s Rich Pageant or Automatic I’d be picking REM, but it’s Futures here.

I'm going Murmur. Some days it's my favourite REM record. The jangly guitar on Passion has more melody and personality than some bands conjure in entire careers. My biggest complaints are that I prefer the earlier version of Radio Free Europe, and I think the album closes on a weak note.
Futures has never hit for me the way it does for so many people. I like it, don't love it. Drugs is one of their worst songs (ducks)
