Absolutely love that. "Better" is so good. Also, ~$32 with fees at SubT in Chicago is the most I've ever paid for a show there. I'm happily paying it, but still, I have high hopes.

Was just randomly thinking the other night about old tours that seem so unbelievable now (i.e. support/opener is now massive or two artists who now would never tour together).

What are some of the crazier lineups for you to look back on? Maybe this isn't the right thread but still somewhat on topic.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

the FOB/PATD/21P from 2013; it came to a 5k venue here in TO and now those acts all play the arenas whenever they come through

    Things have changed.

Paramore opening for Anberlin and Copeland
    Panic! opening for Acceptance
Katy Perry playing a small stage on Warped Tour
    Muse opening for My Chem

    Too many to name:

    - Fall Out Boy opening for Mest of all bands on a Winter 2004 tour

    - Paramore being the 1st band on the Acceptance headliner tour (they rotated with Panic! At The Disco who ALSO were the first band on another leg) with support for TREOS, Cartel and Augastana playing like 300-400 capacity rooms

    - Linkin Park opening for P.O.D in 2000

    - The Used playing 1k-capacity clubs w/Thrice, My Chemical Romance and Story Of The Year in 2003

    - Fenix TX headlining tour in fall 2000 w/New Found Glory and Good Charlotte both opening

    - Red Hot Chili Peppers with BOTH Nirvana and Pearl Jam opening in fall of '91 (w/Smashing Pumpkins opening some dates in place of Nirvana)

    - The Neighbourhood with support from THe 1975 in Spring of 2013

    - Arctic Monkeys opening for The Black Keys on an arena run in the US in 2012

    - 311 having a swatch of varied openers in the mid 90's: Korn, Sugar Ray, No Doubt, Incubus

    - Incubus supporting Deftones in 2000

    - Thursday/Thrice w/ Coheed in 2003 which now would probably have to be billed in REVERSE order

    - Muse OPENING for My Chemical Romance in the US in 2007 (to be fair, the roles were flipped when both bands toured together in the UK)

    - Blink 182/Green Day in 2002 with Green Day playing FIRST

Ha jinx. To be fair, Muse opening for My Chem was in the B-market areas as they played both The Forum in LA and MSG in NYC that same year.

  9. Phoebe Bridgers playing like five songs opening for Julien Baker at a 500-cap venue before Stranger In the Alps was out. I’m sure I have more, but that’s the first one that comes to mind for me.

Though it didn't happen, The 1975 w/Phoebe Bridgers and Beabadoobee in 2020 would be impossible now.

I saw Avenged Sevenfold and Mastodon open for Five Pointe O in 2002.

Also saw Avenged Sevenfold open for Suicide Machines in front of 50 people in 2003.

Saw Halsey and Travis Scott open for The Weeknd in 2015. That tour would be HUGE today

My sister went to that tour when it hit the Honda Center in Anaheim. She mainly went for TOP and dipped halfway through FOB’s set

The only one that comes to mind for me is when I saw State Champs open for NFG in 2013. Probably not on par with the other responses here, but still weird for me

Rise Against with Bad Religion as direct support and FYS opening was a strange one for me

I saw Travis Scott open for Casey Veggies in a 400 cap room which is about the biggest act I saw before blowing up

I think the only ones I’ve been to that I can think of from back in the day are Bring Me the Horizon opening for Thursday, and A Day to Remember opening for The Devil Wears Prada and Silverstein on separate tours, but fuck ADTR

That Thursday headlined BMTH/PTV/FYS taste of chaos was just... an unfortunate night for everyone.

I didn't go to that taste of my chaos but my friends said the venue emptied out after BMTH played and Thursday practically played to barely anybody.

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that I've been to are:

Five Finger Death Punch being added as a last minute local opener for DragonForce, All That Remains and Horse The Band in 2006. Their debut album came out a year later.

Architects being the first band opening for Suicide Silence, Emmure, After the Burial, and Beneath The Massacre.

-In 2001, Boysetsfire headlined with support from the Movielife, Thursday, & the first band on the bill was Rise Against.
-All Time Low was the opening band on Hit The Light's first headlining tour. I also saw Ryan Cabrera open for Hit The Lights once lol

The New Jersey Pop Punk Archives has SO MANY flyers from the mid-late 90s to 2006, & there's a ton of gems.
Also mostly specific to pop punk, there's also this Reddit thread that requires weeding through some dumb comments but also has some cool tours.
