yeah but sometimes jon's shit can be grating too. like at one point on jackpot juicer he just says like "go go go go go go go go" over and over again in lieu of any actual lyrics, and he does it again with some like "ta ta ta ta ta ta" again on a different song, like it just feels fucking lazy as shit sometimes with him.

the last ihatethescene podcast had one very particular story that painted him in a very bad light and sort of gave insight into the kind of guy he is. I’ve heard some other stuff too but that guy was on tour with them, and as he pointed out you know Matt’s drinking had been a problem for years, Tim had been doing pills for years, things could have been handled so long ago, it didn’t have to get to the point it did with Matt almost ruining a tour and Tim literally dying if someone had cared enough, but the band fostered an environment that allowed stuff like that to go on unchecked, as well as tilians sexcapades with fans which apparently he couldn’t stop bragging about, and he specifically preyed on fans, I would listen to the pod it paints a very different picture of the entire band than you might expect and in some ways they’re all culpable for everything that’s happened. But yeah the specific Jon story made my skin crawl, dude seems like a piece of shit

i feel like i’m repeating myself but idk why it’s at all surprising that the guys who made jonny craig famous are not stand-up dudes. honestly being in a metalcore band at all is a red flag atp

    again…..

the jonny SA timeline has been laid out a million times its annoying that it keeps getting erroneosly brought up. jonnys SA timeline was WELL after dgds last association with him.

focus on the facts. focus on the tilian SA shit. and whatever else shit that is actually a thing.

only when they kicked him out the first time they wrote a whole bunch of horrible shit about him including how he was sleeping with underage fans and still let him back into the band later. it all just speaks to the culture they've enabled as a band, like i was saying earlier

i did forget about that line.

wonder how old they were in ‘07 when jonny first was kicked. i recently read mingus was 16 when he recorded DBM1

the rest of them were like 20, old enough to know sleeping with underage fans is wrong and someone who does that shouldnt be given a platform again years down the line, even though i know the DBM2 plan originally was to do the album and tour and hang it up after, but when the tour imploded they became open to a new vocalist again and tilian's fill in spot became a full time gig and thats how we got to where we are now, which again just shows me most of this band's decisions are based on money because they saw they could profit from bringing tilian on board.

We reach for the longest shadow

Yeah there were plenty of Tilian’s lyrics that are bad in hindsight, but it was very easy to write off as satire. First it was Honey Revenge which was easy to say it was from a stalkers perspective, then the eyebrow raising line in Lost.

nothing real egregious on Monthership? It also has some of his better lyrics. Inspire the Liars take on cults is interesting, Deception and Philosopher King are kind of cool. The more I listen the more that album stands out as such an outlier in a good way for the band.

They were on tour with an all girl band dk the name, their van broke down or something so they came onto the dgd bus, the guy telling the story said he went to bed and the next morning was like oh how were the girls like were they cool or whatever, no one said anything besides Jon who said with a straight face “they were a bunch of dumb bitches who haven’t been hit enough” (very very close to a direct quote). The guy telling the story also mentioned Jon never smiled unless he was fucked up and never showed any sort of emotion or anything, just a really really weird dude. But yeah that quote from a grown ass man joking or not is extremely fucked up and kind of lets you know the kind of brain he has that he thinks that’s acceptable to say, serious or not. It’s just weird to hear that and then see their fan base treat him as an uwu smol bean

i've always wondered if jon mess is actually brilliant and his lyrics are deeper than most would understand or if it's all actually just nonsense.

I believe he's said he rambles and looks for patterns/syllables that work regardless of the words. Like certain songs he doesn't even know what he was saying during recording.

    I don't think it's a stretch to say he's just a weird dude.

i was thinking more untitled album era, i've checked out a few songs since tillian joined but he has the worst voice in the world so i had to give up my favourite band.

Alex English (and the rest of Death Star for that matter) does not have the r-slur anywhere in there.
