Friend mentioned Me First & the Gimme Gimmes playing the night before WWWYF somewhere in Vegas the night before opening day for a charity event.

considered heading there alone but I’d never be able to afford a hotel on my own considering the flight cost from nyc

  4. Oh yes. That totally makes sense.

  5. Flights just aren't coming down in price. Gonna cost 2k for my wife and I from Philly.

  6. Insane!

Yeah every Delta flight (which I have to fly because I'm so tall) is $650-750 from Detroit to Vegas

Fortunately there seem to flights from Minneapolis to Vegas in the $300 range round-trip, but idk if it's worth going anymore.

I don't know anyone else going to day 3, I don't know if there's anything fun to do in Vegas for someone who doesn't drink or gamble.

I’m so glad it’s only a 5 hour drive from me

As someone who doesn’t drink, there’s still a lot of fun stuff to do in Vegas. Cool museums, lots of wonderful food, High Roller wheel and Eiffel Tower at the Paris are great views. Going through the casinos is fun even if you don’t gamble too.

Yeah I've decided not to go with flights being so expensive. If anyone is looking for a ticket for 10/29 hit me up.

This is going to be the most successful festival where half of the people who bought tickets couldn’t even actually afford to attend. The true millennial experience lol

  14. Yeah, the downsides of having two separate days on the same weekend (and an additional a week later) are starting to become more obvious. Flights and hotels are too expensive. I still have my Sunday ticket but all of my friend group lost theirs when they missed a payment (one person bought all the tickets), and most of them are just relieved they're off the hook and get part of the money back.

Not sure if going to Newark is in the cards for you or what your preferred airline is, but just glancing at flights out of EWR for the first weekend at least, I'm finding things that wouldn't cost you $2k for two people.

Just took SEPTA from downtown to Trenton and connected to an NJ transit train to get to Newark the other week and it wasn't that bad of a ride.

If anyone can’t make the 22nd I have someone who might buy it.

  17. The specific days and times I want are still up there in price. Plus the inconvenience of going up there isn't worth it lol.

    a convenient travel hack:

i fly spirit almost exclusively. whenever i want to fly somewhere, i check the flights on their website with 2 weeks-2 months before takeoff. usually the cheapest days are tue/wed to do what i'm about to suggest: go to the airport and buy your spirit flight in person. you get a percentage discount off your flight. why? shoulder shrug. but this is how i've managed to buy round trip flights from houston to los angeles, chicago, denver, newark, etc at $45-100 ROUND TRIP.

people rag on spirit (sometimes, deservedly so), but you have to know how to play the game. above all else, you get one free carry on, usually the size of a normal school sized backpack. (if you can't travel for a weekend with more luggage than just a backpack, then you're doing it wrong). the flights that are the cheapest are usually the early morning flights, but those are almost always there for takeoff without any major takeoff delays.

I’m a big spirit fan. When they are on, they are legit. Prices so cheap I can upgrade to the big front seat and still save a bunch compared to southwest. The are definitely deals to be had with a little legwork for them.

  22. Scott's Cheap Flights emailed me this morning about flight deals for Vegas around the time of the fest. My city, Nashville, wasn't listed but I was still able to find RT tickets for ~$300 via Google Flights.

Full list they sent for those interested:

I would love to fly Spirit if their flights weren't constantly delayed and I could actually fit in their seats.

I had about 30 flights in the past 5 years with like 5-6 different airlines (domestic and international) and the only one who never had a delay was Spirit. I had 12 hour flights in worst seats, also.

That's funny because my friends exclusively have issues with Spirit.
