I’m much more content with them being friends then Tom coming back and derailing Mark’s output.

 

nope, only ordered 1. it's annoying because i checked out exactly 2 minutes after they went on sale.

apparently they over sold them:

"Unfortunately, with how quickly the EOTS Funko Pops sold out, our shopping cart oversold the allotment we will be getting. Since this is the case, we have to cancel your order. I know that this is something that you don’t want to hear, and it pains me to have to send this email, but I would rather be honest with you now instead of canceling an order in December."

but i just snagged a new one over here. (in case anyone else's orders get cancelled, or you missed out yesterday.)

yesterday, i saw a few other people on one of the blink facebook groups say they got the same email, so i'd definitely keep an eye on your emails over the next day or two in case they end up cancelling more...

 

Mine were also canceled hours after the fact.

This is honestly pretty standard for any sort of Funkos I think. I've had like four different orders of them get "oversold" and canceled over the years....only for them to randomly show up on my doorstep 9 months later. haha.

Listening to a lot of blink this week, finished up a Neighborhoods run, and now I'm onto California.

Don't care what anyone says, I still really like it. It's a really fun sunny day album.

 

Apropos of absolutely nothing- I was thinking the other day how cool it'd be to have a true Mark Hoppus solo record. I have no idea what direction something like that would even take, and that makes me want it more.

The Only Thing That Matters

I think the 3 biggest gripes I have with that album are:
1. the only song with an instrumental cool riff part is "Kings of the Weekend." All the other songs fill up all the space with "Oh's" and "Na's" etc. That song is the only one that has a part with any kind of space. On a 16 track album, it's veryyyy repetitive and exhausting, at least to me.
2. The guitars sound really sharp and lifeless. Way too cleaned up, to the point where it sounds like it's a computer playing the guitar instead of an actual human.
3. There are too many songs that have the "Bored To Death" intro riff style, but just moved up to different keys on the guitar.

Besides some bad, lazy songwriting, trying to re-tread the EOTS kinda stuff (but only the band's perspective of what that means), too many repetitive parts, and production style that I don't really like, it's not a bad album. Is Nine wayyyy better in almost every way? Absolutely. But does California have its place and is it fun to listen to every once in awhile? For sure.

 

Had a blast with California initially, but it hasn’t aged well for me. It’s not even the songwriting that turns me off, but rather the sterile mix. California is like the anti-neighborhoods.
