They're easier for Kurt to sing at a lower register. Also, he already is performing a whole set with Royal Coda, so he doesn't have to over exhaust himself with DGD.

It's one thing to have been able to record the songs at a high pitch, but having to sing that high on a tour every night is difficult. Incubus deals with that when performing their song Dig.

I'm sure it's for the previous reason that wasposted about not having to switch so many guitars, but I thought I would add my two cents too.

Only got around to listening fully through this past day, and regardless of my opinion of Tilian before and after his veil was lifted, I found this to be extremely mid DGD. Dated ass chauvinistic lyrics from Tilian which almost seemed too on the nose for the current state of things, and the song structuring is all over the place. Ridiculous amount of tracks that could be reduced to half without missing anything.

Way too much of the Tilian “wooaaaoohh OHHHH oh Oh oH OOAAAAHHH OOOOO ohhhh” like ffs that shit gets annoying after 10 seconds idk how anyone thinks that’s good songwriting.

I hope this is the last album with him. Would like to have a refresher without abusers involved, as he’s not only trash but I find with every album since Mothership, I’ve grown tired of his vocal style and don’t think he’s bringing anything new at this point.

I hope you all don’t mind me spotlighting a great rising band that imo puts a genuinely fresh spin on the prog/pop blend of bands like DGD and the like. I’m seriously in love with these guys and they only have a few songs out. They just dropped 2 new tracks, but this single from last year remains a great starting point:

I understand the complaints about this album, length, production on Tilian's voice, but they do not bother me at all and I really do love this album.

When talking about a new lineup though, I don't see enough people talking about how much they'll miss Tim. The bass here is absolutely grooving and whoever plays bass on the next one will have some big shoes to fill.

Yeah he will be a huge loss to their sound for sure - every single song from Acceptance Speech to now probably started out as Will, Matt & Tim in a room putting the structure together, losing 1/3 of that dynamic will have a massive effect.

Cream of the Crop, Synergy, and For the Jeers are my favorites here so far. I agree with everyone that Tillian’s shtick has worn thin.

If they go the route of a new vocalist (imo, they should), I wouldn’t mind someone with a little more straightforward pop sensibility. I often find myself humming the Mess parts more than the Tillian parts.

Yeah the new bassist needs to have their own style and not just try to imitate Tim, I think that would go a long way in switching up their sound as well because Tims grooviness lays a lot of the backbone of their current overall sound

This album is great but way too long. If they cut 5 songs from the tracklist it would be a whole lot less intimidating

As much as I love the last two albums I don't know if they've topped the bridge to Care. I remember when they released it as a single and listening thinking, "this is fine if not a little clunky melodically" then that bridge hit and it put such a stupid grin on my face.

I just listened to For The Jeers, and I don't know much about the revolving singers, but the singer that is not Tillian sounds so much better from a production standpoint.

I think most would agree that Andrew has a voice that would appeal to more people. Tilian sings in a higher register and can hit crazy notes but that's not everyone's cup of tea.
