Finished Amphibia with my kids tonight. Series finale was so good. The last few minutes were really moving and I loved the final closing message:

Change can be difficult, but it's how we grow. It can be the hardest thing to realize you can't hold on to something forever. Sometimes... you have to let it go. But of the things you let go... you'd be surprised... what makes its way... back to you.”

Here’s to Anne living to 91 years old and becoming the next guardian of the gems thereafter.

Watching it with my son was a really cool experience. During the finale he was all hyped when (I’ll put this all in spoilers in case any other folks out there decide to check it out some time) Anne, Sasha, and Marcy get powered up and fly into space to fight, but then he got so quiet when Anne “died” and stayed that way all the way through to the end. After it was over he was still sitting there quietly and so I asked him what he thought. He said he really liked it a lot, and then he just looked at me and said “it was kind of sad, right?” I asked him what made him feel sad and he said it was sad that Anne had to say goodbye to her friends - Sprig in particular - and that Sasha tells Marcy in the future that she and Anne stayed friends but they also kind of stopped hanging out in high school. I asked him if he liked that they still go to see her in the end and he said yeah, but wanted to know why they stopped “playing together” so much. It kind of broke my heart that he was already understanding these kinds of emotions at such a young age (he’s almost seven), but I was also glad it gave me the chance to explain that sometimes life can be a little sad like that and things and people change, but that it’s important to hold onto the memories that fill you with joy. I told him it’s sort of like watching this show together the last few years. It’s over now and he won’t get to see any more new episodes, and that's a little sad, but he won’t forget it either and neither will I. God there are just so many really great kids shows out there.

Watching Paper Girls (only 2 episodes in). I'm not at all familiar with the source material, so going in blind without expectations and it's pretty good so far. Episode 1 was fast paced and chaotic, and then 2 was much the opposite and was basically a state of mental affairs with all the characters. I like it so far but both Mac and Erin are pretty horrible at the moment and definitely don't have a filter when it comes to just saying shitty things to people. I'll have to see where their season arc takes them. Tiffany has had the least to do so far with KJ having slightly more.

I'm intrigued enough to hang around and see where it goes so this is a positive recommendation so far.

Audience score seems decent everywhere so for those that have had read the graphic novels, is it seeming faithful so far? I'm torn on what happened to the Wheel of Time on amazon. I didn't hate it, but I have some issues with a few changes they have made.

I agree but it seems to get further and further lost in pop culture discussions considering how huge it was at the time. I don't think it's aged particularly poorly, so not sure why it's not gotten generational crossover like some other dramas. It had some misteps and some plot threads that were completely abandoned but it also has some of the best moments ever like Lems death and everything leading up to it and the ending was great too.

Allegoria on Shudder is the directorial debut of Powerman 5000's singer... so that should be incredibly something haha. Came out yesterday.

Licorice Pizza will be on Amazon Prime on Friday.

The Smiling Friends Go To Brazil comes out on Saturday on HBO Max. That show is incredible haha.

Sundance movie On The Count Of Three comes out on the 17th on Hulu.

fboy island is so frustrating this season. louise straight up saying she wants a fboy, when the premise of the show is supposed to be "i date too many fboys and don't want that anymore." they had that in s1 but i fear the contestant pool saw how much the show popped and it lost the genuine goal of the show and is now just another pipeline to become an influencer

I don’t watch that show but I feel like that’s why 99% of reality show contestants sign up for a show. So whenever there is a discussion about “being there for the right reasons” I always know that shit is disingenuous

Depends on the type of reality show, but for let's say... "non-skill based" reality shows hah (dating shows, housewife show, random people living their lives) then I totally agree that most of them are there for the fame etc. BUT for competition reality (Survivor, Top Chef, etc) there are plenty of contestants who truly are there for the game, as many of them don't even try to be famous after the shows
