Music Midtown isn't exactly booking artists that "mah guns" folks listen to on the regular. I don't think it would've affected them all that much to say it.

So you actually CAN'T bring a gun/weapon into the festival but this "activist" is taking them to court for merely stating that guns aren't allowed? Shit is wild.

Guns are allowed in the park because it's public property, so technically Music Midtown (as a non-permanent business operating on public property; permanent businesses operating on public property (like the botanical gardens next door) can block guns) is breaking the law saying you can't bring them into the ticketed event.

They wanted to say you can't bring guns into the event, and have the usual security with metal detectors, but the ruling was that they can't do that, and if someone walked in with a gun, they legally can't refuse them entry with it as the event is on public land. It seems like it's more of a debate if a private event can have rules that trump the rules of the public ground. I don't fully understand it, as it's illegal to drink in public, so if it's public land, how do they get their alcohol permits? Basically, there are some exceptions, but apparently banning guns isn't one of them that a private event can do.

Speaking of people who are anti-gun/cop,

Ceremony teased a tour announcement in their latest fan email

Things that are usually not not allowed in the park for the festival: Backpacks, Unsealed water bottles, lawn chairs, walkie talkies, selfie sticks, laptops, roller blades...

    Things that are allowed: GUNS?!?!?

The funny thing is that these "activists" that caused all this don't give a damn about that festival. They probably don't even know more then 3 names on the bill.

Yeah...I can't imagine going to and/or holding an event in the US these days that's a mass gathering and NOT having metal detectors/no weapons rule. It seems pretty standard so it seems like this activist really wants to just dick the event/people going to it which is so absurd.

Wonder what this will mean for events that take place in public spaces on states that allow open carry

i mean I wouldn’t go to an event like that, you are asking for trouble, all it takes is for one nut to show up with bad intentions and you have lives lost. It seems like common sense, but our country is seriously lacking in any common sense right now.

I disagree and I would feel much safer knowing that i am surrounded by thousands of good guys with guns who are ready to defend me from a mentally ill lone wolf who played too many video games and consumed too much violent media.

The whole thing is a bonkers argument, like if it’s a public place what do I have to pay to attend at all? Like why is this even a thing? This stuff makes me so mad. We just need to start boycotting these bonkers backwards states.
