Also, terrible band, but it’s crazy that Hunter was such a prominent piece of shit in the scene that A Day to Remember wrote a song about him

not by name but they play multiple interview clips from the Gunz Show and if you know his voice it’s easy to recognize.

Mighty hypocritical considering by then their were already allegations of sexual abuse against a member of their own band at that point. Pretty sure they were just mad that member had their nudes leaked on the site instead of actually caring about victims.

That’s exactly why. That member, and his girlfriend at the time. They didn’t give a shit that the site existed, just that it impacted them

Back to the private jet thing... It would be so easy for Taylor to do this, board the plane last, exit first, & buy out the entirety of first class and quite literally never be seen by us lowlife peasants. Or apparently buy out several rows in the back of the plane for you & your team like this pilot says happens. IMO, it seems very much that Taylor has the opportunity to fly in peace without a private jet but is okay making that choice

Insane he was given a second and third chance at music from people like Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars and he can’t help but commit rape.

  12. as she fucking should

sp*z clearly doesn't carry as much offensive weight in the States since Beyoncé and Lizzo both originally thought it was fine to put in a song

props to her for doing the right thing

I've thought that slur was offensive since high school, but I've heard people from the US drop it into casual conversation on occassion - is the connotation less well known, or just ignored?

I think it’s mostly ignored as well as, I think the word has been used more cruelly in the UK compared to the US. In the UK I see it used a lot as an insult, whereas here I see a lot of people use it to describe themselves. I could be wrong though

Speaking for myself, I didn’t know of the connotation before the Lizzo thing, so I think a lot less known

  16. I’m 33 and never heard of it being used as a slur until the Lizzo thing happened. Only had heard it being used to describe a hyperactive or excitable person/thing

  19. I was targeted with that word or the more direct 'sp****c' a lot growing up, much more of a thing this side of the pond, easy target due to my disability

  20. yeah I happened to know about that because I watch UK TV (i guess? idk lol) but in the US I basically only hear it referring to a rambunctious child. no harm in not using it regardless of where you're from though

  21. Yeah definitely with 2022 goggles on, it’s easy to see how a word that is directly derived from “spasm” could be weaponized as an ableist slur. Hopefully two of the biggest artists in the world facing criticism over using it will spread significant awareness, and big ups to both of them for taking the criticism and making a change

    Things have changed.

After the Lizzo thing, how did no one on her team realize she had the same issue? lol

I usually see people using it to refer to themselves if they do one absent-minded thing or if they briefly lose focus. kind of like how people will say they're so OCD for like... keeping things clean a normal amount. Like omg I'm so quirky and random kinda vibes.

Glad we have high profile artists making a stance quickly and without getting defensive tho

  25. would have been very easy to go 'um, Bey, you saw that shit with Lizzo right? one of your new songs has the same slur in it...?' not sure how anyone missed it at the time
