How does it cost $1,500 a *day* to jail someone? That seems... absurd. Isn't that what you'd pay for a high end resort?!?!!?

 

So call them back and tell them what happened when you called maintenance. Seems like the logical next step.

Update: maintenance came by to offer to swap our locks, but then noticed their painter was parked outside. He had no idea the painter was in for the day, working on the unit directly below us. So it was just a mistake, but we're still both pretty upset about it. He should be knocking.
