Plus all these old ass bands hog the attention and take it away from younger bands that could benefit from it. Like there’s totally bands right now that kick ass and put out great stuff but unless I made the effort to look, I wouldn’t know.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

It's clear bands like Less Than Jake and NOFX have lost a step since their primes in studio and live while Bad Religion at least keeps chugging along live. All I meant by that statement. I'm a fan of LTJ too.

Bands that sound like the vocalist is constantly on the verge of crying feel great to listen to when I'm actually on the verge of crying hahah! Love me some TWY or SLS!

Also, it's funny to see how people can't imagine how things like punk (or even Title Fight) might still mean something to a larger audience, but maybe just somewhere outside of your bubble - and that's up to a point view with stuff like "Bush-America". You do realize there's music in other countries too? ;d I think my country would actually benefit from that movement, even if it's been redundant outside of it, hard to say for me.

most punk bands need to break up before they become pitiful legacy acts to make way for the new generation. they only have like 2-3 good albums in them at best, dragging it on for decades at a time is just sad.

I wouldn’t say top tier but I have always thought it was seriously over-hated

Yeah, like the bottom of the top tier, generously. But top tier REM is also like half their albums

Collapse into Now doesn’t have big classic moments, but all the songs are really really good

I don't actually think this belongs here, but I'd rather say this here than in the band's thread.

I don't hate Father Of All Motherfuckers. It's not my favorite Green Day album, and I can understand why it might disappoint people, but I think it's a fun, mindless listen.

I think the biggest issue is that Green Day doesn't put out stuff with enough consistency to throw out a left field effort and not have it land with a thud.

Weezer, for example, does something different on every album nowadays, but they put stuff out so regularly that they can get away with it.

    Just my thoughts.

maybe bias from my age but i probably enjoy a decent amount more punk bands post 2000 then pre 2000. if you like any kind of music that's more niche, having to look to find it just comes w the territory. ive always found that part fun anyway. its at least infinitely easier to find great bands now compared to the 80s since theyre all at our fingertips.

Green Day are the pop punk RHCP.

Once, in the 90’s and early 00’s, they were great, but now they’re putting out genuinely embarrassing records that only sell because of nostalgia. They should both hang it up.

    The Longshot was fun though.

I am heavily biased because Green Day is my all time favorite band and literally got me into music but I like FOAM too. Definitely towards the bottom of their discography but I think there are a lot of fun songs on there. The only ones that are genuinely not good imo are Fire Ready Aim and Oh Yeah

But I also absolutely love like 90% of the trilogy so don't take my word for it

Why would or should they? I’m all for not listening, but why should bands like Green Day stop?

The idea that bands should just quit after their revolutionary peak and not be allowed to grow into career artists is some seriously toxic emo/punk/scene/whatever fan bullshit.
