This is may fav single so far. Really excited for this album after not loving their last album!

in what sense? reminds me of 'I walked upstairs and shaved my beard, I felt like I was holding sadness there' from Local Man.

There are a couple of moments on the songs that have come out where I've felt something like that though, not to say I don't like them, like the 'your name, your name, your name' chorus

This is the first Wonder Years album I've been excited for since TGG

The “Your name” part kind of jarred me the first time I heard it because it almost seemed too…straightforward? For a wonder years melody at least. Now I love it

Going to preorder now. Looking at the deluxe variant.. has anyone heard the extended cut of Summer Clothes?

After listening some more I think that this is my favorite of the songs they’ve released so far. It’s so good.

I understand the feelings towards the "your name" and "growing out my hair" lines
I'm not sure what it was about either parts, but I did get some of the same feeling. Not in a bad way, it just felt... different? Hard to explain.
Loooooving Low Tide and it's been on repeat all day.

oh shit! just realised not only what I said about the hair/beard reference to Local Man Ruins Everything... but also the outro ends with 'the one who ruins everything'.

Got to say, i love every song released from this. Feels like this could be their best record since TGG.

Low Tide was one that didn't grab me initially, but after listening with headphones, the bridge really impressed me. I really enjoy all four of the released songs, but am hoping they are holding back their more epic songs from the album, like the closer.

The thing that really caught my ear was how good the drums are on this one

I think in a vacuum the long hair line jars me a bit too, it seems like a very basic lyric on face value...but I think within the wider context of the rest of the lyrics, it actually works really well and it takes on a lot more meaning.

Yeah, while I have loved pretty much every album they've put out, Low Tides hits that Surburbia/ TGG sweet spot for me.

    Can't wait for the album.

  16. I don’t think it’s intentional at all (like a lot of Dan’s lyrical themes that have existed between albums) but I think there’s a nice connection between “I’m growing out my hair, ‘cause who gives a shit?” and “I walked upstairs and shaved my beard / I felt like I was holding sadness here”

  17. it's a nice unintended parallel I think - though you know this band loves their callbacks so it could go either way

I think Dan commented on that during a Q&A on the hopeless Instagram yesterday. Something how it wasn't intentional but a nice realization after writing it

The only other thing I'm going to say is the opening guitar part reminds me of Boysetsfire (in a good way)

We reach for the longest shadow

It's so cool to hear this band with good production. Song is cool, and a spiritual successor to TGG is all I've ever wanted from them.

I've always liked Yip. Even in his Floral Green/TTWTWM days, which I can admit are quite exhausting from a production standpoint.

I just think he's actually become a better producer, so much of his early stuff is still so muddy

I think he peaked around the time of Wait for Love, After the Party and The Amulet

we're definitely going to have to disagree because the production on The Amulet is why I just can't get into that album at all
